    摘要: A noisy frequency-domain channel estimate enhancer includes an over-sampler configured to transform the noisy frequency-domain channel estimate into a time-domain channel estimate that is virtually over-sampled by an integer factor m. The over-sampler is connected to a de-interleaver configured to divide the time-domain channel estimate into m de-interleaved sub-vectors. The de-interleaver is connected to a suppressor configured to suppress noisy taps from each de-interleaved sub-vectors to form m noise suppressed sub-vectors. The suppressor is connected to a selector configured to select a noise suppressed sub-vector associated with a highest signal-to-noise ratio. The selector is connected to a discrete Fourier transformer configured to transform the selected noise suppressed sub-vector into a noise suppressed preliminary frequency-domain channel estimate. The discrete Fourier transformer is connected to a phase-shifter configured to phase-adjust the taps of the noise suppressed preliminary frequency-domain channel estimate to form an enhanced frequency-domain channel estimate.

    摘要: Systems and methods are disclosed for estimating impulse responses of multiple channels, e.g., multiple antenna sub-array paths of a base station, in a distributed manner. In one embodiment, a method of operation of a Scalable Estimation Ring (SER) processing component in a SER that operates to estimate impulse responses of corresponding channels is provided. In one embodiment, the method includes, during a first iteration of the SER, receiving a feedback signal for the SER processing component and computing an initial estimate of an impulse response of a corresponding channel based on the feedback signal, removing a contribution of the corresponding channel from the feedback signal based on the initial estimate of the impulse response of the corresponding channel to thereby provide a feedback signal for a next SER processing component in the SER, and outputting the feedback signal for the next SER processing component in the SER.

    摘要: A mobile station receiving a signal from a base station experiences time/frequency varying channel conditions. In order to get the maximum throughput from a base-station, it is necessary to adjust the modulation and coding schemes to the actual channel quality. To do so, mobile receivers are required to probe the radio channel condition and feedback a limited set of estimated channel state information parameters such as CQI, RI, and PMI. The invention uses modulation-specific mutual information as a basic metric for CQI-PMI-RI computation to yield high bandwidth efficiency under both flat fading and interference conditions as well as time and frequency selective fading and interference conditions, at reasonable complexity.
