摘要:
A method for decoding a symbol transmitted over a millimeter wave (mmWave) channel estimates channel state information (CSI) of the mmWave channel using a Bayesian inference on a test symbol according to a probabilistic model of the mmWave channel including statistics on paths and spread of mmWaves propagating in the mmWave channel and decodes a symbol received over the mmWave channel using the CSI.

The present invention relates to a communication device for receiving and transmitting OFDM signals in a wireless communication system, in which each OFDM signal is composed of a plurality of subcarrier signals each being assigned to a respective transmission channel of said communication system, comprising diversity antenna means (10) including a plurality of antenna elements (12); examination means (26) adapted for examining, individually for each antenna element (12), at least one subcarrier signal of an OFDM reception signal received by a respective one of said antenna elements (12) and for gaining, from the result of such subcarrier signal examination, attenuation information on attenuation properties of at least some of the transmission channels associated to the respective antenna element (12); and amplitude adjustment means (30) adapted for adjusting, individually for each antenna element (12), the amplitude of at least one subcarrier signal of an OFDM transmission signal to be transmitted from a respective one of said antenna elements (12) in accordance with said attenuation information, such as to give a higher amplitude to said subcarrier signal of said OFDM transmission signal when said attenuation information indicates a lower attenuation of the associated transmission channel, and to give a lower amplitude to said subcarrier signal of said OFDM transmission signal when said attenuation information indicates a higher attenuation of the associated transmission channel. In this way, transmission of useless energy on heavily disturbed transmission channels can be avoided.

Techniques for using multiple description codes (MDC) for channel feedback to improve channel estimation accuracy are described. A receiver may obtain an initial/ measured channel vector for a communication channel. The receiver may select a codebook in a set of codebooks for quantizing the initial channel vector. Each codebook may include a different set of channel vectors/codewords. Different codebooks may be selected in different reporting intervals. The receiver may select a channel vector in the selected codebook, and the selected channel vector may have (i) a largest correlation with a normalized channel vector or (ii) a smallest distance to the initial channel vector. The receiver may send the selected channel vector and possibly the selected codebook to a transmitter. The transmitter may receive the selected/ reported channel vectors from the receiver in different reporting intervals and may derive a final channel vector for the communication channel based on the reported channel vectors.

Embodiments herein provide a method of estimating channel states of a plurality of user equipments (UEs) in a single instance. The method includes receiving pilot samples from the plurality of UEs. The method includes selecting a predetermined number of tones, wherein the channel associated with each UE across the selected pre-determined number of tones is same. The method includes collecting the received pilot samples from each pilot symbol and stacking the received pilot samples as a vector. Further, the method includes constructing a matrix. The matrix includes known pilot values used by each UE. Furthermore, the method includes estimating channel states of the plurality of UEs by applying a filter on the vector formed from the received pilot samples. The number of channel states to be estimated is reduced by selecting the pre-determined number of tones.

Certain aspects of the present disclosure support demodulation reference signal (DMRS) enhancement for higher order multi-user multiple-input multiple-output (MU-MIMO) communications. An example method generally includes determining a plurality of ports of a multi-dimensional array of transmit antennas and a number of spatial multiplexed layers for transmission to a plurality of user equipments (UEs), configuring a demodulation reference signal (DMRS) pattern by multiplexing the layers or the ports in the DMRS pattern, using an orthogonal cover code (OCC) and one or more code division multiplexing (CDM) groups, and transmitting DMRS symbols based on the configured DMRS pattern using the multiplexed layers and the ports.

The present invention relates to a method for communicating in a network, said network comprising a primary station and at least a first secondary station, wherein the first secondary station transmits to the primary station an indication of a first plurality of precoding vectors, wherein the number of first precoding vectors is greater than a preferred rank of transmission from the primary station to the first secondary station.

A system and method for aggregation of a plurality of wireless communication signals in a common radio frequency transmitter. A multiple subchannel multiplexed (MSM) signal within a frequency band, and having a communication protocol with pilot signals estimating a channel state and efficient signal demodulation with a mobile receiver is combined with another signal. An automated digital processor at the transmitter modifies the MSM to meet at least one fitness criterion of the combined signal, selected from among alternatives that will maintain good reception of all transmitted signals within system protocols, without requiring transmitting additional side information specifying the modification. The range of alternates include modifications that disrupt the pilot signals. The fitness criterion may include minimizing the peak-to-average power ratio of the combination, and a signal modification may comprise a cyclic permutation of a portion of the time-domain representation of a signal, while maintaining compatibility with prior pilot signals.
