The present application relates to dual-mode GSM/WLAN terminals and how to establish calls in a convenient and cost-effective manner. In the prior art the user has to manually select between the access technology to use. This problem is solved by the application in that, when a terminal with an active account enters the coverage area of the WLAN, the server registers the terminal to the WLAN. When another terminal sends a call request to it (INVITE sip: 358041111111@server), the [SIP] server will proxy the call request message to it (INVITE sip:userB@10.0.8). If the called terminal is not registered or does not even have an account then the [SIP] server will tell the calling terminal to do a GSM call.

A communication system for an organization having multiple sites uses a dual-mode device capable of both cell phone communication and telephone communication on a local area network (LAN). IP LANS are established at organization sites such that a temporary IP address is assigned to a dual-mode device that logs onto an organization LAN, and the IP address is associated at a PSTN-connected server on the LAN with the cell phone number of the communication device. The IP server notifies a PSTN-connected routing server when a device logs on to a LAN, and also provides a destination number for the IP server. Cell calls directed to the device are then redirected to the IP server and directed to the device connected to the LAN.

Das Verfahren der eingangs genannten Art ist dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Kopplung der Telefonanlage oder eines mit dem öffentlichen Netzt verbundenen Telefons oder der mindestens einen Nebenstelle einer Telefonanlage oder eines mit dem öffentlichen Netzt verbundenen Telefons mit mindestens einem mobilen Telekommunikationsendgerät über zumindest ein Modul als zentrale Instanz realisiert wird, wobei dieses Modul ein Adapter, ein Dongle oder eine Dockingstation ist oder in ein Büro- bzw. Systemtelefon integriert ist, wobei bei Kopplung mit mindestens einem mobilen Telekommunikationsendgerät Daten der Vermittlungsschicht (Network Layer), der Transportschicht (Transport Layer), der Sitzungsschicht (Session Layer), der Darstellungsschicht (Presentation Layer) und/oder der Anwendungsschicht (Application Layer) eines OSI-Referenzmodells (D-Kanal bei ISDN Telefonen, SIP/ H323 bei VoIP -Telefonen, CoNet-T, CorNet-IP, ABC-F, Skinny, bei proprietären VoIP oder digitalen Systemtelefonen) an das mobile Telekommunikationsendgerät (z.B. drahtlos mit Bluetooth) übermittelt werden.
