摘要： A system to allow external applications to interact with an operating VXML browser include a VXML browser operating on a processor having a VXML interpreter. A control is operably interconnected between the external application and the VXML interpreter using a communication channel. The control inserts the commands into the VXML interpreter, which are processed by the VXML browser in a conventional manner to allow the external application to interact with the operating VXML browser.

摘要： The present invention allows calls that are controlled by a multimedia subsystem (MS) to employ bearer paths that are supported in whole or in part by a circuit-switched subsystem (CS). As such, calls controlled by the MS can have a portion of the bearer path provided through the CS when needed or desired. To facilitate such control, a session control signaling path is established between a user element currently supported by the CS and a remote user agent (RUA), which represents the user element in the MS. While a portion of the bearer path for the call is supported by the CS, the session control signaling path extends the reach of the MS to the user element.

摘要： A transport adapter layer interface (TALI) (422) includes messages, processes, and packet structures for sending and receiving SS7 (416) information over a stream-oriented connection, such as a TCP/IP (428, 430) connection. For example, the TALI interface includes test messages for testing the status of a connection and allow and prohibit messages for enabling and disabling service data communications without invoking a TCP handshaking procedure. The TALI interface also includes SYNC and LENGTH fields for facilitating extraction of individual message packets over a stream-oriented connection.

During TDM call setup at least one message or information element is conveyed to the second packet net­work section, the at least one message or information element being indicative of the first terminal equipment's packet ca­pabilities and/or an address of a first controlling device (116, 114A) controlling the call in the first packet network section (110). In the second packet network section (120), said message or information element is received at a second controlling device (126, 124A) controlling the call in the second packet network section (120). Using the information extracted from said at least one message or information ele­ment a second connection between the first and second termi­nal equipment (112, 122) through the wide area packet network (130) is established by means of the first and second con­trolling device (116, 126, 114A, 124A).
