The information providing device includes a storage unit; a communication unit that transmits a scanning instruction to instruct the image forming device to perform image scanning, and receives, from the image forming device, storage location information indicating the data managing device that stores data obtained by image scanning by the image forming device and indicating a storage location in the data managing device; and a storage location managing unit that generates, in the storage unit, management information in which identification information of the image data is associated with the storage location information. The communication unit receives the data saved in the storage location indicated by the storage location information from the data managing device and transmits the received data to the transmission terminal.

摘要： In an image data server 200, a preview data generation unit 218 generates preview data corresponding to image data, and a transmission controller 211 transmits the preview data to a computer system 100 in an image receiver apparatus. In accordance with another possible application, the preview data is not generated by the image data server 200, but is generated by a computer system 300 in an image transmitter apparatus, which transmits the image data to the image data server 200, and transmitted to the image data server 200. In the computer system 100 in the image receiver apparatus, a display controller 113 causes the contents of the preview data to be displayed on the screen of a monitor 150. The user determines whether or not the image data corresponding to the displayed preview image is required. In response to an instruction for transfer of the image data input from the user, a transmission controller 111 transmits a request for transfer of the image data to the image data server 200. The transmission controller 211 then transmits the image data, which is the object of the request for transfer, to the computer system 100 in the image receiver apparatus. A print controller 114 causes the image data to be subjected to predetermined image processing, and a printer 180 prints the processed image data on a printing sheet of paper. This arrangement of the present invention enables the image receiver apparatus to selectively receive only the required data.

摘要： A Message Storage and Deliver System (10) (MSDS) is connected to the public switched telephone network (PSTN) and receives incoming calls with these calls being facsimile, voice, or data transmissions. The MSDS (10) detects the type of call and stores the message signal in a database. The MSDS (10) is also connected to the Internet and has a hyper-text transfer protocol deamon (HTTPD) for receiving requests from users. The HTTPD forwards requests for certain files or messages to a network server which transmits at least part of the message to the HTTPD and then to the user. In addition to request for certain documents, the HTTPD may also receive a request in the form of a search query. The search query is forwarded from the HTTPD to an application program for conducting the search of the database. The results of the search are forwarded through the HTTPD to the user. The user may then select one or more files or messages from the search results and may save the search for later reference.
