A novel testis-specific gene expressed in human prostate cancer, designated 22P4F11, is described. Analysis of 22P4F11 mRNA expression in normal prostate, prostate tumor xenografts, and a variety of normal tissues indicates that the expression of this gene is testis specific in normal tissues. The 22P4F11 gene is also expressed in human prostate tumors, in some cases at high levels. A full length cDNA encoding 22P4F11 is provided. The 22P4F11 transcript and/or protein may represent a useful diagnostic marker and/or therapeutic target for prostate cancer.

Such methods may employ binding agents, such as antibodies or CAR sequences of OB-cadherin or N-cadherin, that specifically bind to OB-cadherin or N-cadherin, or polynucleotides that hybridize to a polynucleotide encoding OB-cadherin or N-cadherin. Also provided are methods for monitoring the progression of a cancer and to evaluate the metastatic potential of a cancer.

La présente invention se rapporte à la découverte que des polymères anioniques biocompatibles peuvent inhiber efficacement la fibrose, la formation de cicatrices et les adhérences chirurgicales. On a découvert que les polymères anioniques inhibent efficacement l'invasion de cellules associées à des processus de cicatrisation préjudiciables et, notamment, que l'efficacité d'un polymère anionique inhibant l'invasion cellulaire est en relation avec la densité de charge anionique du polymère. L'invention présente un grand nombre de substances pouvant être utilisées dans des procédés d'inhibition de fibrose et d'invasion de fibroblastes. Les polymères anioniques ci-décrits comprennent des protéoglycans naturels et les fractions glycosaminoglycan des protéoglycans, mais ne sont pas limités à ces composés. On peut également utiliser des hydrates de carbone anioniques et d'autres polymères anioniques. On préfère les polymères anioniques sulfate de dextrane et polysulfate de pentosane. Dans un mode idéal d'exécution, on peut utiliser du sulfate de dextrane, dans lequel la teneur en soufre est supérieure à 10 % en poids. Dans un mode idéal d'exécution, également, la masse moléculaire moyenne se situe entre environ 40.000 et 500.000 Daltons. The present invention provides also methods for preparing fibrin particles of various sizes, including fibrin nanoparticles and fibrin microbeads. The present invention further provides compositions comprising fibrin particles and an agent, wherein the agent is coupled to the amine or carboxy moieties on the surface of the fibrin particles. In addition the present invention provides a composition comprising fibrin nanoparticles and an agent, wherein the agent is admixed with the fibrin nanoparticles. Still further, the present invention provides a method for introducing an agent into a cell, a method for isolating stem and/or progenitor cells from a biological sample, as well as a composition comprising fibrin particles bound to stem and/or progenitor cells.
