The painting tip (38) is made of a resilient silicone having a generally three-dimensional paint contacting working surface (41) that has a maximum cross-sectional diameter (42) no larger than a maximum cross-sectional diameter of the handle (22). The tip (38) is preferably attached to the handle (22) using a ferrule (28) and expansively locking the tip (38) into a cavity (34) of the ferrule (28) by insertion of an insert (44). The insert (44) may be a common screw or a barbed, fluted extension of the handle (22). The tips (38) may include an insert cavity (34) and have various shapes and hardnesses and may be optionally color coded. The ferrules (28) also may be reversibly attached to the handle (22), in which case a kit comprising multiple interchangeable painting tips (38) may be provided.

The joining method includes a step of determining position of the joint component and the joining component through positioning members, while the fusible shaft is inserted in the insertion hole of the joint component and a step of positioning the joint component at a predetermined position through the positioning members. While positioning the joint component and the joining component, the joint component and the joining component are joined in such a manner that a gap is formed between the insertion hole and the fusible shaft so as to interrupt contact between the insertion hole and the fusible shaft.
