An embodiment of the surface-copy shaping machine consists of a spindle displacement detector (60) for detecting in analogue manner the displacement of the vertical spindle (10) to vary the elevationally moving speed of the vertical tracer spindle (10) in proportion to the displacement, and means (30) for temporarily raising the spindle (10) when the displacement of the spindle (10) exceeds a set value.
