    摘要: A manually operated portable die cutting machine (1) having a rotatable handle arm (16) for generating a pressure necessary to cut a sheet material that is carried by a die cutting assembly and positioned between a movable upper press plate (22) and a stationary lower press plate (23). A pull-out drawer (8) is slidable outwardly from the body (5) of the die cutting machine (1) to enable access to a storage compartment (30) thereof in which a variety of small articles can be transported. The rotation of a locking knob (24) causes a corresponding rotation of a swing hook (26) into engagement with the handle arm (16) to prevent a rotation of the handle arm when it is desirable to carry the die cutting machine (1) at the side of a user or to prevent use of the machine by a small child. The handle arm (16) includes a handle (18) having an upturned kick (44) which prevents the user's fingers from being pinched when the handle is grasped to rotate the handle arm. The rotatable handle arm (16) is coupled to a camming (33) mechanism through a slot (20) in a press plate top cover (12) that is seated upon and movable with the upper press plate (22). A protective belt (34) is located in and slidable around the slot (20) to prevent the user from accidentally inserting his fingers through the slot at the same time that the handle arm (16) is being rotated.

    摘要: A sleeve-type gas spring (10) for a turret indexing press (18,20) has an annular piston (34) operably associated with a punch tool (12) to reciprocate therewith and defining in part an annular gas chamber (94) constructed to receive a gas under pressure. As the punch tool and piston are driven to their extended position by a press ram (14) or some such other power device, the volume of the gas chamber decreases thereby increasing the pressure within the gas chamber such that when the ram is retracted, the pressure of the gas acting on the piston displaces the piston and the punch tool to their retracted positions. The force acting to retract the piston and the punch is dependent on the initial pressure of the gas within the gas chamber and the change in volume of the gas chamber as the punch tool and piston are extended. Thus, the retracting force of the sleeve-type gas spring can be readily changed by varying the initial pressure of gas within the gas chamber to provide a spring which is versatile and which may be used with a plurality of different presses or in a plurality of different applications wherein varying retraction forces may be needed. Further, the sleeve-type gas spring has a very long life in service and can be easily recharged and any worn seals easily replaced to facilitate servicing the gas spring.
