    摘要: A completely automatic process and apparatus are described for producing multi-layer rubber or plastics tubes reinforced with fabric tapes or metal wires. The apparatus is new both overall and in its individual component units. Specifically, spiral-forming units of new design are described, which operate in series to each apply a different tape material as a spiral on to the metal core which is fed with rectilinear motion, to form a continuous layer thereon. Unwrapping units are also described for automatically removing and rewinding the outer forming tape for the finished tube.

    摘要: A process and composition for applying and bonding a curable polymer or prepolymer, for example, an amine curable polymer or prepolymer, at ambient temperatures to the surface of a cured elastomer substrate. The elastomer article or substrate is treated with an organic oxidant such as one selected, for example, from the group consisting of N-halosulfonamides, N-halohydantoins, N-haloamides, N-haloimides, and the various isomers of mono-, di-, and trichloroisocyanuric acid. A composition of a curable polymer or prepolymer is prepared with a curing agent. To the curing agent and curable polymer or prepolymer composition is added a polar solvent which is mixed with the resulting blend or mixture and added to the treated elastomer surface; said polymer or prepolymer cures at ambient temperature and becomes bonded to said elastomer. The application is relatively easy, since the entire mixture is a liquid and can be applied in situ. The invention is particularly suitablefor repairing various damaged elastomer articles such as tires (espe- I cially off-the-road), conveyor belts, hoses, preparation of caulking or sealing compounds, and especially in bonding tire lugs or tire treads to a tire carcass.

    摘要: In a method of manufacturing filamentary reinforced polymeric hose an uncured tubular structure (20) including one or more sub-units each having a radially inner tubular layer (21, 25) of uncured elastomer and an outer tubular layer (22, 26) of filamentary reinforcing elements (23, 27) is subjected to fluid pressure in its bore (54). The fluid pressure forces uncured elastomer material into the interstices (28) of the filamentary layer (22, 26) of each sub-unit and consolidates the uncured structure (20). A cover layer (17, 58) of elastomer material is thereafter applied and the covered structure is cured into an integral hose.
