Abstract:
A method of making an open-ended, reinforced, layered belt is disclosed. The method includes extruding a top layer onto said cords and meterering it into a first cavity or into a first gap defined by a smooth cylindrical mandrel and a molding band or a first gap defined between said mandrel and a laminating roller, thereby forming a carcass comprising said cords embedded at one surface of a film of said top layer material and training said carcass on a second portion of a cylindrical mandrel, said second portion including a second cavity defined between said cylindrical mandrel and a molding band or a second gap defined between said cylindrical mandrel and a laminating roller.
Abstract:
A belt splicer for splicing butt ends of thermoplastic belts together. The splicer uses a plurality of cranks in conjunction with heavy springs to close and rapidly open jaws holding butt ends of a belt in place against a heating wand for melting and against each other for welding the melted ends together. The rapid opening of the jaw also lowers the wand, which is locked in place by a wand lock during the melting of the butt ends.
Abstract:
A belt for suspending and/or driving an elevator car includes a plurality of tension elements extending along a length of the belt and a plurality of belt fibers transverse to the plurality of tension elements and interlaced therewith. The belt fibers define at least one traction surface of the belt. An edge fiber is located at a lateral end of the belt transverse to and secured to the plurality of belt fibers to secure the belt fibers in a selected position.
Abstract:
A flat belt 20 is prepared. A first belt end 21 of the belt 20 has a finger shape and a second belt end 22 of the belt 20 has the complimentary shape to the first belt end 21. An adhesive is applied to one of an end face 21K of the first belt end 21 and an end face 22K of the second belt end 22 or to both. Next, both end faces 21K and 22K are butted. The butted portion B of the first and second belt ends 21 and 22 are pressed in the belt width direction. Due to this, the end faces 21K and 22K are bonded by the adhesive so that the first and second belt ends 21 and 22 become joined.
