Die Erfindung betrifft ein Kraftfahrzeug mit einem Wechselstrom-Elektroantrieb als Fahrantrieb, dessen Drehmoment an zumindest ein Antriebsrad des Kraftfahrzeugs übertragbar ist, einem Elektrospeicher zur Bereitstellung von elektrischer Energie für den Fahrantrieb und einem Stromrichter zur Umwandlung einer Gleichspannung des Elektrospeichers in eine Wechselspannung, mit welcher der Elektroantrieb angesteuert wird. Erfindungsgemäss ist dabei ein elektrischer Gangumschalter vorgesehen, welcher als eine elektrische Schalteinrichtung zwischen dem Stromrichter und dem Elektroantrieb ausgebildet ist. Mit dieser Schalteinrichtung ist vom Stromrichter zum Elektroantrieb zwischen unterschiedlichen Spannungsübersetzungsverhältnissen für die Wechselspannung umschaltbar.
