The railroad vehicle system judges or previously notifies as to whether the present driving railroad section is the electrically driven section or non-electrically driven section in accordance with driving position information received from a position information generation means such as a ground facility on a railroad equipped outside of the vehicle and a global positioning system (GPS). The system cuts off from an external electric power source in the non-electrically driven section and carries out a smooth shifting control in order to connect to the external electric power source in the electrically driven section.

Die Erfindung bezieht sich auf ein Schienenfahrzeug (1) mit mindestens einem Verbrennungsmotor (2), welcher Traktionsenergie bereitstellt, mindestens einem Generator (3), der in Wirkverbindung mit mindestens einem der Verbrennungsmotoren (2) steht und hierüber angetrieben elektrische Energie erzeugt, elektrischen Verbrauchern (10), welche zur Energieversorgung in Wirkverbindung mit mindestens einem der Generatoren (3) stehen, und einer Einrichtung zur Reduzierung des Kraftstoffverbrauchs, welche einen Energiespeicher (8) sowie eine dem Energiemanagement dienende Steuer- und Regeleinheit (14) umfasst. Das Schienenfahrzeug (1) und das Verfahren zur Reduzierung des Kraftstoffverbrauchs eines Schienenfahrzeugs ermöglichen einen besonders geringen Kraftstoffverbrauch des Schienenfahrzeugs. Hierzu ist der Energiespeicher (8) ein Leerlaufpuffer-Energiespeicher (8) und steht in Wirkverbindung zu mindestens einem der Verbrennungsmotoren (2) und speichert von diesem bereitgestellte Energie zwischen, und es sind Mittel zur Bestimmung des Bedarfs an Traktionsleistung vorgesehen, wobei die Mittel zur Bestimmung des Bedarfs an Traktionsleistung so mit der Steuer- und Regeleinheit (14) zusammen wirken, dass bei einem fehlendem Bedarf an Traktionsleistung die Versorgung der elektrischen Verbraucher (10) bei abgestellten Verbrennungsmotoren (2) durch den Energiespeicher (8) erfolgt.
