A cyclone (500) suitable for use in a third stage separator in a fluid catalytic cracking unit or to improve other gas/solid separations. The cyclone has an inlet for gas and entrained solids (515) and a clean gas outlet tube (520) at one end of a cyclone body. Solids and some gas are withdrawn through a solids outlet (545) and discharged into a catch chamber. Some of the gas discharged with the solids into the catch chamber is returned to the interior of the cyclone body through a gas reflux opening in the cyclone (555). Chaotic reflux of gas back into the cyclone through the solids outlet is eliminated.

An improved process for catalytic reformers and their use for the catalytic reforming of petroleum naphthas. More particularly, the invention relates to an improved reformer unit which can be operated at higher throughput relative to compressor size. The invention utilizes pressure swing adsorption to improve the hydrogen content of hydrogen containing streams generated by and utilized in catalytic reforming processes. The invention also has the capability of enabling compressor-limited catalytic reforming units to be operated at increased capacities.

A three stage hydroprocessing process includes two liquid and one vapor reaction stages, with a hydrogen containing vapor effluent produced in both liquid stages. The second liquid stage vapor effluent comprises part of the first liquid stage feed and the first liquid stage vapor effluent is the feed for the vapor stage. At least a portion of the hydrogen for the first liquid stage and vapor stage reactions is respectively provided by the hydrogen in the second and first liquid stage vapor effluents.
