摘要:
An intimate blend of staple fibers, and a yarn, fabric, and article of clothing providing surprising arc performance and coloration capability, comprising a mixture of a first staple fiber made from a flame resistant polymer that retains at least 90 percent of its weight when heated to 425 degrees Celsius at a rate of 10 degrees per minute and comprises 0.5 to 20 weight percent discrete homogeneously dispersed carbon particles; and either (a) a second staple fiber from a flame resistant polymer being free of discrete carbon particles and having an L* lightness coordinate of 70 or greater and being capable of accepting a dye or coloration, or (b) a second staple fiber blend being free of discrete carbon particles and comprising at least one second staple fiber from a flame resistant polymer and having an L* lightness coordinate of 70 or greater and being capable of accepting a dye or coloration; the mixture having a total content of 0.5 to 3 weight percent discrete carbon particles.

The present invention is directed to a textile fabric. This fabric is particularly well suited for use as the outer shell fabric of a firefighter's garment. The fabric is a woven or knitted fabric of spun yarns and multi-filament yarns. The spun yarn includes a first staple being a polymer selected from the group consisting of aramid, PBI or PBO or melamine formaldehyde, and a second staple being an aramid polymer. The multi-filament yarn includes an aramid filament.

Optionally dyed woven fabrics and garments are disclosed that exhibit fire resistance, arc resistance, moisture management (water release rate and wicking), and abrasion resistance without the undesirable addition of topical treatments. Certain embodiments of the woven fabric are disclosed that comprise a plurality of weft yarns comprising a blend of fibers with inherently fire resistant fibers with superior moisture management properties and a plurality of warp yarns, optionally dyed, comprising cellulose derivatives. The woven fabrics are particularly useful in denim work clothes because they are comfortable to wear and exhibit fire resistance and abrasion resistance.

The present invention is to provide a fabric that has excellent economic efficiency and good texture, flame retardancy, and high visibility. The fabric of the present invention includes one side (an A side) mainly configured by yarns made of fibers capable of being dyed within color coordinates and in a luminance factor defined in ISO 20471, and the other side (a B side) mainly configured by blended spinning yarns made of flame-retardant fibers having a self-extinguishing property and non-melting fibers. The fibers capable of being dyed within the color coordinates and in the luminance factor defined by the ISO 20471 configuring the A side are made of any one of polyester fibers, nylon fibers, and/or acrylic fibers. The non-melting fibers and the self-extinguishing fibers configuring the B side are cellulose-based fibers and modacrylic fibers, respectively.

Provided is a polyetherimide-based fiber containing a polyetherimide resin and carbon black dispersed in the resin, wherein the content of the carbon black is 0.03 wt% or greater; the carbon black has a primary particle number-mean particle size of from 30 nm to 500 nm; and the fiber has a weight reduction rate of less than 0.5% around the glass transition point (Tg) of the polyetherimide resin, where the weight reduction rate is defined by a following formula (1). Weight reduction rate % = fiber weight at temperature T 1 − fiber weight at temperature T 2 / fiber weight at temperature T 1 × 100 Where T1 denotes a temperature (Tg - 15°C) that is 15°C lower than the glass transition point (glass transition temperature) of the polyetherimide resin, and T2 denotes a temperature (Tg + 25°C) that is 25°C higher than the glass transition point.

Flame resistant fabrics that have incorporated into them cellulosic filament yarns. The cellulosic filament yarns may be flame resistant (either inherently FR or treated so as to be FR) or non-flame resistant. Fabrics according to some embodiments are formed entirely of cellulosic filament yarns. However, fabrics according to some embodiments include additional yarns to ensure that the fabric complies with NFPA 1971 and/or 2112.
