    摘要: One embodiment of the invention includes a vibrating-mass gyroscope system. A sensor system includes a substantially planar vibrating-mass including opposite first and second surfaces and electrodes that extend longitudinally in a periodic pattern across the first and/or second surfaces. The electrodes include sets of drive and sense electrodes that are capacitively coupled to respective matching sets of drive and sense electrodes associated with a housing and which are separated from and facing the respective first and second surfaces. A gyroscope controller generates a drive signal provided to one of the array of drive electrodes and the substantially matching array of drive electrodes to provide for in-plane periodic oscillatory motion of the vibrating-mass, and generates a force-rebalance signal that is provided to one of the array of sense electrodes and the substantially matching array of sense electrodes to calculate rotation of the vibrating-mass gyroscope system about an input axis.

    摘要: A Coriolis rate sensor for determining both angular rate and linear acceleration with respect to three orthogonal axes. A first embodiment of the rate sensor (10) includes three pairs of accelerometers (26, 28 and 30) mounted on counter-rotating frame members (20, 22). The accelerometers are mounted with their sensitive axes antiparallel with each other, forming an acute angle with the common axis (40) about which the upper and lower frame members are counter-rotated back and forth in a dither motion. The upper and lower frame members are connected to a baseplate (12) by flex links (32), which are aligned radially about the axis. The flex links provide a relatively rigid support (in compression) between the frame members and the centrally disposed baseplate, yet readily permit counter-rotation of the two frame members. A link (56) prevents all but relative rotational movement between the frame members and baseplate. A pair of electromagnetic coils (42) and pole pieces (50) provide a sinusoidal driving force to counter-rotate the upper and lower frame members relative to each other to ensure that the upper and lower frame members are directly coupled to each other and to the baseplate. In a second embodiment of the rate sensor (100), eight accelerometers (102, 104, 106 and 108) are mounted with two pairs on an upper counter-rotating member and two pairs on a lower counter-rotating member.

    摘要: A signal-processing circuit for a dual-axis vibratory rotation-rate sensor has a digitally programmable bandwidth. An analog-to-digital converter (ADC) converts analog sense signals to digital signals at a high sampling rate. The results of successive ADC conversions are accumulated for a user-programmable number of conversions. By accumulating a number of samples, the sense signals are averaged which improves the signal-to-noise ratio and smoothes the output signal. Alternatively, accumulating a smaller number of samples allows the user to improve the response time of the sensor, allowing the user to set the number of samples that are averaged enables the user to control the effective bandwidth of the sensor. The accumulated conversions are also are scaled by unit-specific calibration factors in order to accommodate for unit to unit variations, so that the rate output will be consistent across a number of sensors.
