摘要:
A sampling frequency converting apparatus converts an input digital digital signal which is sampled by a first frequency to an output digital signal, which is sampled by a second frequency. The apparatus comprises a memory, a write-address producer which operates in response to the first freqency, a read-address producer which operates in response to the second frequency, and an interpolation circuit. The speed of the converting operation is determined by the high frequency between the first and second frequencies.

A vector quantizer receives a plurality of input signals (4) in block form and operates to determine an output vector (15) having the least distortion with respect to an input vector by various techniques. A coded output or output vector codetable address is output from a coder (7) of the device for receipt by a decoder (8) which constructs a proper output vector signal (15).

A digital television receiver has a digital conversion circuit (2-23) for converting an analog video signal (1) to a digital video signal (DVS), a process circuit (32-52) for composing digital RGB signals from the digital video signal (DVS), a timing control circuit (27) for controlling the A/D converting operation of the digital conversion circuit and the composing operation of the color process circuit.

A signal separation system is provided which includes a plurality of serially-coupled signal transfer stages (102, 104, 106). A video information signal is applied to an input stage (102) and is delayed by at least the time interval of one horizontal television line (1-H) as it passes through the stages. Various ones of the stages which are 1-H apart in time include outputs, which are combined by weighting function (120-126) and summing or difference circuits (130-136) to produce bandwidth-limited transversal filter output signals. These signals are additively and subtractively combined (140, 150, 160, 156) to produce a combed band passed chrominance signal and a fully restored and combed luminance signal, thereby obviating the need for subsequent filtering before the signals are further processed. The bandwidth-limited signals may also be combined (162) to provide a user adjustable peaking control signal for the luminance information channel.

A method of concealing errors in a composite PAL or NTSC digital television signal formed of sample signals corresponding respectively to sample positions along horizontal scan lines of a television picture made up of a plurality of such horizontal lines, comprises, in respect of each sample signal, using a first algorithm to calculate a first expected value of the sample signal, the first algorithm using actual values of adjacent sample signals in the same horizontal line as the sample signal, using a second algorithm to calculate a second expected value of the sample signal, the second algorithm using actual values of adjacent sample signals in the same horizontal line as the sample signal and actual values of adjacent sample signals in the horizontal lines preceding and following the horizontal line of the sample signal, continuously monitoring which of the first and second algorithms gives expected values closer to the actual values, and on occurrence of an error sample signal using the algorithm currently giving the better result to calculate a corrected sample signal to be substituted for the error sample signal.

An all-pass filter provides inversion of a chrominance component in a composite signal without separating the chrominance component from the composite signal, to provide for example, synthesizing composite video from a previous line of video. The filter includes an input (26') for receiving the composite signal along a subsequent signal path, and the application of selected, preferably symmetrical weighting factors to selected locations along the signal path. The path includes selected delay means (58-64) coupled to define a filter output via summing means (66). The latter provides the composite signal with inverted chrominance without an objectionable change in the relative phase and amplitude of the luminance components relative to the inverted chrominance.
