The present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition for preventing or treating inflammatory spine disease comprising Peony and Scolopendra subspinipes extract as an active ingredient, and the present inventors have confirmed that the mixed extract of Peony and Scolopendra subspinipes was effective in inhibiting the generation of nitrogen oxide and cytokines dose-dependently, and observed that ear edema in the mouse model induced with ear edema was alleviated by treatment of the mixed extract of Peony and Scolopendra subspinipes dose-dependently. Also, the mixed extract of Peony, and Scolopendra subspinipes, added with Cibotium barometz, Ostericum Koreanum, Eucommia ulmoides, Achyranthes, Acanthopanax, Saposhnikovia divaricata, and Aralia contientalis was confirmed to be most effective in inhibiting the inflammatory reaction, and the said mixed extract resulted in pain relief and disc improvement upon administration to lumbar herniated intervertebral disc patients via pharmacopuncture. Therefore, it is suggested that the pharmaceutical composition comprising of the extract of Peony and Scolopendra subspinipes of the present invention may be effectively used for the prevention or treatment of inflammatory spine disease and also be effectively used in pharmacopuncture for the prevention or treatment of inflammatory spine disease.
