The aim of the invention is to develop a method for the production of a coating system comprising a crackled lacquer structure and a leather-like surface. According to the invention, a single layer of a coating system is applied to the surface of an object as a base coat with any particular binder, whereupon a water-soluble varnish is immediately placed on said applied coating system in a wet state as an activator in an injection method and the surface of the second coating consisting of applied varnish is then exposed to a short-duration heating shock or is exposed to flowing air in order to trigger hardening of the coating system.

A motor-vehicle steering wheel is produced by the moulding of plastics material in two steps. In a first step, a polyurethane foam body (6) is moulded around a metal core (5), the body corresponding in shape to the final shape desired but being thinner than the final thickness desired. In a second step, a covering (12) of plastics material is moulded on the polyurethane foam body (6) so as to bring the part to the final thickness desired. The foam used in the first step is produced without the use of chlorofluorocarbons as expanding agents.
