The apparatus comprises of a driving mechanism (10), wherein said driving mechanism (10) further comprises of a plurality of sections such as a nose section (12), a propulsion section (14), a drag chute section (16) and a cutting section (18), and wherein said sections are integrally connected with one another in a tight and secure manner. The driving mechanism (10) is capable to be launched from an aircraft or a surface craft towards a target and wherein upon launch said driving mechanism (10) is capable of steering itself on its own towards its target and thereafter attaching itself to the target and wherein by using the drag chute section (16). The driving mechanism (10) is designed and configured to alter the initial trajectory or direction of the target to another direction by dragging it and wherein permanently changing the course of the said target.

The invention relates to a self-propelled underwater body, in particular a torpedo, comprising a rigid outer shell (10) that is composed of individual shell sections (11) arranged one behind the other along the longitudinal axis of the body. Said body has an electric drive (14) integrated into a tail section (111) and a battery (17) for supplying current. The aim of the invention is to adapt the energy supply, which is carried by the body to the actual energy demand required for each operational area and mission. To achieve this, the battery (17) can be composed of several, functionally independent battery units (171, 172, 173) and each battery unit (171, 172, 173) is integrated into a battery section (115) (shell section (11)). The number of battery sections (115) that are included in the outer shell (10) can be varied according to requirements and is determined by the energy demand estimated in accordance with the predefined operational profile of the self-propelled underwater body.

The invention is a Self Propelled Underwater Device With Steerable Fin Stabilizer having a unique hull of generally tubular configuration and having a substantially conical shaped rear portion. The hull comprises a plurality of hollow interlocking tubular sections with one section including the rear portion; adjacent tubular hull sections include peripherally spaced apart threaded portions respectively disposed internally and externally thereof for mating relationship upon relative circumferential motion of the adjacent sections, the adjacent sections are further configured to provide an abutting joint when fully mated with watertight sealing means between the mated sections. The vehicle includes a plurality of steerable stabilization fins mounted on the hull about the rear conical portion at spaced apart locations with hull slots for receiving the respective fins when stowed. Common means pivot the fins out of said slots to extend generally perpendicular from said hull, and rotate each fin to steer the vehicle. Also, there is provided means for controlling the rotating means and a motor for driving a rear propeller.
