Abstract: PURPOSE: To obtain a chlorinated isocyanuric acid composition, capable of remarkably suppressing the corrosion of a metal in dipping the composition in water or bringing the composition into contact with flowing water and a malodor and useful for sterilization and disinfection by combining a chlorinated isocyanuric acid with benzotriazole or further an organic acid. CONSTITUTION: This chlorinated isocyanuric acid composition is obtained by blending a compound selected from a chlorinated isocyanuric acid, its alkali metallic salt and a hydrate of the alkali metallic salt with a benzotriazole derivative of the formula [R is a 1-4C straight chain or branched alkyl; (n) is 0-4] in combination. The blending ratio of the benzotriazole derivative of the formula is 0.05-50wt.%, preferably 1-20wt.%. At least one organic acid selected from organic acids such as benzoic, citric, succinic, adipic, malic and tartaric acids can further be blended in the composition to control the dissolution rate of the composition. The blending ratio of the organic acid is 5-90wt.%, preferably 10-70wt.%. The resultant composition is effectively used for sterilizing and disinfecting pools, sewage treatment plants, toilets, kitchens, etc.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an antibacterial antifungal agent for closed spaces, which can control the proliferation of bacteria and fungi even at a place where it is difficult to use a conventional antibacterial or antifungal agent, such as in a washing machine, a shoe cabinet or a storage under a kitchen sink, with the volatile antibacterial antifungal agent, and to provide an antibacterial antifungal method for closed spaces. SOLUTION: The antibacterial antifungal agent for the closed spaces contains an odorless or faintly odorful volatile antibacterial antifungal ingredient such as a dialkyl fumarate, a 6 to 20C higher alcohol or salicylic acid. It is desirable that the antibacterial antifungal agent is used in the form of a multi-molecular clathrate compound containing 1,1,2,2-tetrakis(hydroxyphenyl)ethane, or the like, as a host compound. The antibacterial antifungal agent may homogeneously be mixed with inorganic fine powder such as silica fine powder or clay mineral fine powder or stored in a bag formed from a film through which the antibacterial antifungal agent can penetrate.
