Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the generation of an abnormal sound such as gearing noise which results from the input of vibration from the tire (road surface) side. SOLUTION: A hypoid gear comprises hypoid ring gear 1 provided coaxially with a rotary shaft and an electric motor having a transfer means for transferring steering assist force to the hypoid ring gear 1. The transfer means has the rotary shaft 114 of the electric motor and hypoind pinion gear 2 provided on the rotary shaft 114 and engaging with the hypoind ring gear 1. The hypoind ring gear 1 includes a resin inner gear 4 for pressing the transmission means.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To maintain the NOx cleaning performance at a high level over the range of temperatures from high to low by preventing alkali metals from being transpired in vapor when exposed to high temperatures. SOLUTION: This catalyst for cleaning an exhaust gas absorbs NOx contained in an exhaust gas in an oxygen-rich atmosphere and cleans by reducing NOx absorbed at a chemical equivalent point or in a reductive atmosphere with the help of a reductive component. In addition, the catalyst is composed of a porous carrier and at least, either of Zr or Si and a catalytic noble metal carried on the porous carrier and Cs. The content ratio of Zr to Cs is 0.05-2 in terms of molecular ratio, and that of Si to Cs is 0.003-1. Since Zr or Si is compounded with Cs, the transpiration of Cs in vapor at high temperatures can be prevented from occurring.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To change extension/contraction damping force by providing a damping force generating means, allowing liquid to flow from one side to the other, and a bypass passage, via a hollowed hole, in a partitioning member of a cylinder, and changing a speed of opening/closing the bypass passage through a mass body in the hollowed hole. CONSTITUTION:A liquid pressure shock absorber contains a cylinder 10, partitioning member 12 and a mass body 14. The cylinder 10 has a damping force generating means 20 for partitioning liquid chambers 16, 18 and a hollowed hole 24 provided with a bypass passage 22. Damping force is generated through a flow from the liquid chamber 16 to 18 by arranging a leaf spring valve unit 30 in ports 26, 28 of the partitioning member 12. A check valve is formed by arranging a valve unit 34 in an upper side of the port 28. The bypass passage 22 has a port 38 of connecting the liquid chamber 16 to 18 via the hollowed hole 24. The mass body 14, closing the port 38 and providing a small hole 49, has a check valve 48 for closing a hole 40. Damping force at extension time is made different from damping force at contraction time by increasing a speed of opening the bypass passage earlier than a speed of closing the bypass passage through the mass body by the check valve 48.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a small damping device possible to absorb liquid expansion by taking out the oscillation of a suspension arm as the rotary motion of an axis, and permitting the generation of damping force with the damping device composed of mutually cooperating fixed and movable vanes by the rotary motion. CONSTITUTION:An axis 12 spliningly linked to the body side end part of a suspension arm 10, and the axis 12 is rotatably supported on a body side member via a damping device 14. The damping device 14 has plural fixed vanes 30 at intervals in the circumferential direction of an inner periphery and is equipped with a cylindrical casing 26, which is rotatably supporting the axis in a liquid-tight condition and fixed to a body. The damping device 14 also has movable vanes 46, housed in two liquid chambers 38 and 40 in the casing 26 and fitted to the axis 12, and each of the liquid chambers 38 and 40 is communicated to a leakage chamber 42 via a gap between the axis 12 and an end plate 20 and moreover to a reservoir chamber 54. A means 62 is provided which flows liquid, in the liquid chambers 38 and 40, into the axis 12 to generate damping force.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide possibility sufficient sink of damping force for an input vibration, which has larger velocity in the compression direction, by furnishing a means to quicken the mass body speed to open a bypass relative to its shutting speed when a relative displacement is generated between the mass body and a partitioning member. CONSTITUTION:When impact is applied from a road surface, a liquid pressure damper shrinks. If the shock is large, a partitioning member 12 in a single piece with a cylinder 62 accelerates upward abruptly and moves, producing a relative movement with the partitioning member 12 because the mass body 14 remains at a standstill. The mass body 14 moves downward in accordance wit this amount of motion so as to open a bypass 22. In a liquid passage in the initial stage of shrinkage of this liquid pressure damper a large damping force is generated in normal initial stage because the flow area of an orifice 20 as a damping force generating means is small. Because the bypass 22 is opened according to this impact force, the passage for the liquid will become two systems leading to a port 26 from the bypass 22 and the 20. Accordingly enlarging the flow area of the bypass 22 will remarkably reduce the damping force due to the liquid flowing through the orifice 20.

SOLUTION: The worm gear apparatus comprises a worm wheel 1 engaged with a spline 511 arranged around the periphery of an output shaft 51 which constitutes a component of a steering shaft 5, a worm shaft 2 having a worm gear 21 engaged with the worm wheel gear teeth 11, an electric motor 3 which transmits a power to the worm shaft 2, and a spring which acts to press the worm wheel 1 in the direction of the axis thereof. The gear teeth 11 of the worm wheel comprises a helical with constant tooth thickness on one half (11A) thereof and a worm gear on another half thereof which is formed to have a contact with the helical gear and is so shaped that a tooth thickness increases in the direction of a facewidth toward an end-face.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To maintain the function of Fe to prevent the poisoning of Ba by sulfur as well as to prevent the reduction of the surface area of a porous carrier due to a reaction with Fe in a catalyst for purification of exhaust gas with a carried alkaline earth metal and Fe. CONSTITUTION: This catalyst consists of a carrier made of a porous body, a catalytic noble metal carried on the carrier and a solid soln. or multiple oxide of an alkaline earth metal and Fe carried on the carrier. Since the alkaline earth metal and Fe are carried as the solid soln. or compound oxide, a reaction of the Fe with the porous carrier is inhibited and the reduction of the surface area of the carrier is prevented. Since almost all Fe carried reacts with SO2 in combination with the alkaline earth metal and forms easily decomposable compound sulfate, the alkaline earth metal can restore function as an NOx absorbent by the decomposition of the sulfate.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To reconcile vibration absorptivity and maneuvering stability by providing a plurality of elastic members arranged in series between first and second shafts and an elastic member connecting means to connect the plurality of elastic members in series to each other according to torsional torque generated between both shafts. CONSTITUTION: When torque T acting on an elastic shaft coupling 10 at ordinary travel time or the like is small, only an elastic body 30 is compressed, and transmits the torque T. Since the elastic body 30 is set as a spring constant capable of obtaining stability in rectilineary advancing at high speed, the stability can be secured. When the elastic body 30 is pressed by force exceeding preliminary compressive force of a coil spring 28 at large torque time such as stationary steering time, a metallic plate 26 separates from a bottom plate 20, and the coil spring 28 is also compressed together with the elastic body 30. Since the elastic body 30 and the coil spring 28 are connected in series to each other in this condition, the spring constant is reduced. Therefore, at large torque time, a torque change is reduced to a change in an angle of torsion, and transmission of vibration is restrained.

In the worm 20, the worm tooth parts of the same shape are arranged, shifted only in the axial direction so that the same dimensional shaped ones are continuously and alternately arranged by the number of the worm tooth parts in the cross section of the respective worm tooth parts on a plane, including the center axis of the worm, and the cross section of a tooth space between them.

The hypoid ring gear 12 includes an inner ring gear 12a provided on the inner peripheral side and an outer ring gear 12b provided on the outer peripheral side, and a tooth surface part of one of the inner ring gear 12a and the outer ring gear 12b is energized by a spring so as to press the hypoid pinion gear 15.
