Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain an electrophotgraphic sensitive body high in solubility in a polymer binder and high in sensitivity and small in fatigue by forming a layer contg. a specified hydrazone compd. as an electrostatic charge transfer material. CONSTITUTION:A photosensitive layer 5 composed of a charge generating layer 3 composed essentially of a charge generating material 2, and a charge transfer layer 4 uniformly contg. a hydrazone compd. is formed on a conductive substrate 1. The hydrazone compd. is represented by formula I and prepared by reaching 2-methyl-4-dibenzylaminobenzaldehyde represented by formula II with 1,1-diphenylhydrazine or its mineral acid salt in a solvent, such as methanol or ethanol, at the reflux temp. of solvent, or lower. When needed, the small amt. of a tertiary amine, such a pyridine or triethylamine, an inorg. acid, or an org. acid, such as acetic acid, is used as a condensing agent, and the hydrazone compd. is used in the amt. of 10-90wt%, preferably, 30-90wt%.
Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain a good toner image by incorporating a specified hydrazone type compd. CONSTITUTION:A photosensitive body contains a compd. represented by formula I in which R1, R2 are each optionally substd. alkyl, aralkyl, or aryl, but both are not alkyl at the same time, and R3 is H, halogen, alkyl, or alkoxy. Said compd. can be applied to all the types of photosensitive bodies using org. photoconductive compds., and above all, preferably used for the electrostatic charge transfer layer of the photosensitive layer functionally divided into the charge generating layer and the transfer layer, and the transfer layer is preferably formed on the generating layer. Said compd. itself has no film forming ability, so it is mixed with a binder resin to form the transfer layer. Such a hydrazone type compd. transfers positive holes to inject the holes produced from the generating layer to the transfer layer, then they reach the surface to neutralize negative charge and form an electrostatic charged image, and a good toner image is formed on the surface of the photosensitive body with a positively charged developer. Such a photosensitive body is good in sensitivity, low in residual potential, small in its change even after repeated uses, and it can be used for not only copying machines but widely for laser printers, etc.

PURPOSE:To obtain an electrophotographically useful sensitive body by incorporating a hydrazone type photoconductive substance into a photosensitive layer. CONSTITUTION:A hydrazone compound represented by general formula 1 is incorporated into an electrophotographic sensitive body. In the formula, each of R1 and R2 is optionally substituted alkyl, aralkyl or aryl, both of them are not alkyl, R3 is H or -CO2R5 (R5 is alkyl or aryl), and R4 is alkyl or optionally substituted aryl.

PURPOSE:To obtain a printing plate for an electrophotographic photomechanical process superior in printing resistance and suitable also for manufacturing a printed circuit by forming on a conductive substrate a layer contg. a specified hydrazone compd. as an org. photoconductive compd. and an alkali-soluble resin. CONSTITUTION:A printing plate having a photosensitive layer is prepared by coating a conductive substrate of an aluminum plate or the like with a coating liquid contg. an alkaline soln.-soluble resin, such as a styrene-maleic anhydride copolymer or novolak resin, and necessary additives, such as sensitizer and solubilizing agent, and a photoconductive compd. represented by the formula (R1 is alkyl or benzyl; R2 is H, 1-3C alkyl or alkoxy or dialkylamino; n is 1-5, and when n is >=2, R2 may be same or different), and drying it. This printing plate is imagewise exposed with a process camera, developed with a soln. of sodium silicate or the like to prepare a printing plate. The printing plate thus obtained does not cause peeling of the photosensitive layer or breakdown of a hydrophilic layer, etc. during printing operation, and it is superior in printing resistance.
Abstract:
PURPOSE:To improve sensitivity and durability by forming a photosensitive layer contg. a specified 1,2,3,4-tetrahydroquinoline compd. on a conductive substrate. CONSTITUTION:Photosensitive layers 2, 2', 2'' formed on a conductive substrate 1 contains a 1,2,3,4-tetrahydroquinoline (THQ) compd. represented by the formula shown here in which A is an aromatic hydrocarbon or heterocyclic group; R1- R3 are each H, halogen, alkyl, aryl, or the like. The photosensitive layer 2 may be formed by using said THQ together with a sensitizing dye or an electron acceptor, and a binder, or the photosensitive layer 2' may be formed by dispersing a charge transfer substance 3 into a charge transfer layer composed of said THQ and the binder. The photosensitive layer 2'' of multilayer structure uses the THQ incorporated in the charge transfer layer 4. The THQ acts as a photoconductor in the photosensitive layer 2, and as a charge transfer medium in the photosensitive layers 2', 2''. As a result, these photosensitive layers are good in sensitivity, small in fluctuation, resistant against repeated uses, and rich in durability.
