    Abstract: PURPOSE: To obtain a fluorine-modified aqueous resin dispersion, which is stable and very small in particle diameters of the resin. CONSTITUTION: This resin dispersion is obtained by the following process; a resin solution is formed by solution polymerization between (C) 0 to 10 pts.wt. of a reactive surfactant having radical polymerizable double bond in the molecule and a total of 100 pts.wt. of (A) a radical polymerizable ethylenic unsaturated monomer(s) having carboxyl group and (B) (poly)tetrafluoroethylene having a radical polymerizable unsaturated double bond in the molecule in the presence of (D) a polymerization initiator and polymerization solvent, and the resultant resin solution is subjected to phase conversion into aqueous phase, followed by eliminating the polymerization solvent.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To produce monodisperse polystyrene particles improved in the resistance to various polymerization conditions and the redisperisbility of the powder by polymerizing a styrene monomer in the presence of a specified polymer in an alcoholic medium. CONSTITUTION: Styrene monomer or a mixture thereof with 0.1-40wt.% comonomer of formula I (wherein R is H or methyl; and R is H, an 18C or lower alkyl or the like) or comonomer having at least two double bonds in the molecule in an amount of 100 pts.wt. is mixed with an alcoholic solution containing 0.1-30 pts.wt. polymer having a weight-average molecular weight of 10000 or above and comprising 0.1-20 pts.wt. monomer of formula II (wherein R is R ; Q is a bivalent bonding group; and A is an atomic group necessary to form, e.g. a mercaptooxadiazole ring) and 50-99.5 pts.wt. at least one monomer of any one of formulas III to VII (wherein R , R and R to R are each R ; R and R are each methyl or the like; R and R are each H or the like; (m) is 1-3 in formula III or 0-10 in formula V) in a nitrogen atmosphere, and the resultant mixture is heated and then polymerized in the presence of a polymerization initiator to obtain resin particles of a mean particle diameter of 1-20μm.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To produce a stable vinyl polymer dispersion liquid to form a coating film capable of keeping the water-repellency over a long period by carrying out the dispersion polymerization of a radical-polymerizable monomer in an organic solvent in the presence of a polysiloxane containing azo bond as a dispersion stabilizer. CONSTITUTION:This dispersion is produced by the dispersion polymerization of 30-97wt.% of at least one kind of radical-polymerizable monomer in an organic solvent capable of dissolving the monomer and unable to dissolve the polymer of the monomer in the presence of 3-70wt.% of a dispersion stabilizer consisting of an azo group-containing polysiloxane containing at least one azo bond in one molecule and having a number-average molecular weight of 1,000-200,000. The azo group-containing polysiloxane to be used in the process is expressed by the formula I (R1 is a lower alkyl or nitrile; R2 is a lower alkyl; R3 is a lower alkyl or phenyl; (l) is 0-4; (m) is 0 or 1-200; (n) is 1-400; X is NH or O; Y is group of formula II; (p) is 0-3) or formula III (Z is group of formula IV or V).

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To easily and stably obtain fine particles of a hydrophilic polymer having uniform particle diameter and shape, exhibiting excellent permeability, giving a dense and glossy coating film and suitable as a highly functional material by carrying out dispersion polymerization of a methylenedicarboxylic acid. CONSTITUTION:This fine particles of a polymer of formula II is produced by the dispersion polymerization of a 2-methylenedicarboxylic acid of formula I (n is 1-3) (e.g. itaconic acid and 2-methyleneglutaric acid) or its mixture at a polymerization temperature of preferably 30-100 deg.C. A homopolymer or copolymer of polyvinyl pyrrolidone having a weight-average molecular weight of >=10,000 is preferably dissolved in the polymerization solvent in an amount of 10-70wt.% based on the monomer of formula I. A solvent which dissolves the monomer of formula I but does not dissolve the polymer of formula II (e.g. ethanol and acetone) is usually used as the polymerization solvent.
