    Abstract: PURPOSE: To expand the displacement level without using complicated mechanism by a method wherein the outside diameter size of an inner electrode plate is specified within a specific range to that of a piezo-electric body. CONSTITUTION: The title actuator 1 is composed of plural numbers of piezo-electric bodies 1, elastic bodies 2, and inner electrode plates 3 connected to a driving power supply 4. Besides, a through hole is provided on the central part of the elastic bodies 2 to be filled up with a conductor 5 electrically connecting the piezo-electric bodies to the inner electrode plates 3. The outside diameter of the inner electrode plates 3 is specified to be 20-50% of the outside diameter of the piezo-electric bodies 1. Furthermore, the thickness of the elastic body layers is specified to be 1-20μm, i.e., the value represented by the formula of λ/4 (1+2n) ±1 where, λ represents the resonance wavelength of the title resonance driving piezo-electric actuator while n represents a positive integer.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To maintain the amount of displacement to be nearly constant by constituting the specific dielectric constant of a piezoelectric body in initial state to be lower than a normal value and then allowing the amount of increase of the specific dielectric constant in use to compensate the amount of decrease of an electromechanical connection coefficient value and maintaining the product of the electromechanical connection coefficient value in use and the square root of the specific dielectric constant to be nearly constant. CONSTITUTION:Maintaining a specific dielectric constant to be low initially increases an electromechanical coupling coefficient value. On the other hand, although the specific dielectric constant is as low as 2,600 or less in initial state, it becomes stable after endurance is initiated and it increases abruptly to the same degree as before. Then, the product of the electromechanical coupling coefficient value and (specific dielectric constant) is calculated for each endurance count, thus causing the fluctuation width of the product of the electromechanical connection coefficient value and (specific dielectric constant) from the initial state to the state after endurance to be extremely stable, namely approximately 2% and hence maintaining the amount of displacement to be nearly constant.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To greatly improve a fracture toughness value and to obtain an silicon nitride composite body adequate as mechanical structural parts by dispersing ceramics whiskers provided with zirconia coating layers on the surfaces into a silicon nitride matrix. CONSTITUTION:The coating layers of zirconia (ZrO2) are provided on the surfaces of the ceramics whiskers of the silicon nitride composite body formed by dispersing the ceramics whiskers into the silicon nitride (Si3N4) matrix. Silicon carbide (SiC) whiskers, carbon (C) whiskers, etc., are usable as the ceramics whiskers. The ZrO2 transfers from the cubic crystal to the monoclinic crystal at about 950 deg.C in the cooling process from the sintering temp. and expands in volume during this time. The thickness of the coating layers of said ZrO2 is preferably specified to 40-140mu. The reason for such limitation lies in that the effect of improving the fracture toughness value is small if the layers are too thin and that the fracture toughness value is degraded on the contrary by the excessive influence of the ZrO2 if the layers are too thick.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To easily obtain the title ceramic member having partially a composite reinforced ceramic region by previously forming the composite reinforced ceramic region, arranging the region in a forming die, packing a ceramic material in the die, and sintering the material. CONSTITUTION:The formed body 14 of reinforcing fibers separately prepared is arranged in the cavity 12 of an injection molding die 10, a ceramic material 18 is packed from an injection molding hole 16, and a composite reinforced ceramic formed body 20 is produced. The body 20 is arranged in the inductive part 24a of the cavity 24 of an injection molding die 22, and a ceramic material 26 having the same composition as the ceramic material 18 is packed in the cavity 24 from an injection molding hole 28. The obtained formed product 30 is degreased, as required, dried, and sintered to obtain a ceramic member 30 having the partial composite reinforced region 30a. By this method, the packing density of the ceramic material 18 in the formed body 14 of the reinforcing fibers can be easily increased.
