    Abstract: NEW MATERIAL:An alkylphenone group-containing dialkyl peroxide shown by formula I (R1 is 5-8C tertiary alkyl; R2 and R3 are 1-2C alkyl; R4 is 1-20C alkyl; R5 is 1-3C alkyl or H; n is 1 or 2). EXAMPLE:1-[4-(1-t-Butylperoxy-1-methylethyl)phenyl]ethanone. USE:Useful as a photopolymerizing agent, useful for photopolymerization or photo-setting of radically polymerizable unsaturated compound and having excellent thermal stability. A photopolymerization composition containing the title dialkyl peroxide is preservable for a long period of time without polymerizing and gelatinizing. The prepared polymer does not have yellowing. When curing by photo-setting is insufficient, a method by thermal cure can be applied and the title dialkyl peroxide is effective as an initiator or a crosslinking agent by heat. PREPARATION:A compound shown by formula Il is reacted with a compound shown by formula III (R1 is 4-8C tertiary alkyl) in the presence of a metallic salt of a metal selected from transition metals of 4 to 5 periods to give a compound shown by formula IV among compounds shown by formula I.

EXAMPLE:1-[4-(1-t-Butylperoxy-1-methylethyl)phenyl]-2-hydroxy-2-methyl propan-1- one. USE:A photo-decomposition-type radical generating agent and a heat decomposition type radical generating agent. PREPARATION:For example, a compound of formula II (Y is Cl, Br or 1-4C alkoxy) is made to react with a hydroperoxide of formula III in the presence of a salt of a metal selected from the transition elements of the 4th or 5th period to obtain a compound of formula I wherein Z is Y.

    Abstract: NEW MATERIAL:A compound of formula I [R1 and R2 are 4-8C tert-alkyl or alpha-cumyl; R3 to R6 are 1-2C alkyl; R7 is 1-3C alkyl or H; n is 1 or 2; R1 OOC(R3)(R4) and R2OOC(R5)(R6) are placed at the meta and para positions, respectively). EXAMPLE:4,4'-Bis(1-t-buthylperoxy-1-methylethyl)benzophenone. USE:A photopolymerization initiator or photocuring agent. PREPARATION:An isoalkyl group-substituted benzophenone derivative of formula II is reacted with hydroperoxides of formula III and IV to provide the compound of formula I. The compound of formula I has characteristics such as the photopolymerization or photocuring of photopolymerizable or photocurable monomers at great rates, the storage thereof for a long period without any polymerization and gelation due to the good thermal stability thereof and the non-yellowing of the prepared photopolymerization polymers.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the titled compound useful as a radical reaction initiator and an intermediate raw material thereof in a short time and in high yield, by reacting an epoxide with a tertiary hydroperoxide in the presence of a specific amount of a halogenated acetic acid as a catalyst. CONSTITUTION:An epoxide shown by formula I (R1 and R2 are 1-6C alkyl) is reacted with a tertiary hydroperoxide shown by formula II (R3 and R4 are 1-3C alkyl; R5 is 1-9C alkyl or aralkyl) to give an beta-hydroxy-substituted dialkyl peroxide shown by formula III. In the operation, 0.01-3mols. based on 1mol. compound shown by formula I of a halogenated acetic acid (e.g. trifluoroacetic acid or trichloroacetic acid) shown by formula IV (X1-X3 are H, F, Cl or Br and at least one of X1-X3 is halogen) is present in the reaction.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:The reaction between a tertiary amine and a hydroperoxide in the presence of a ruthenium-rhodium catalyst gives an organic peroxide which is used as a synthetic intermediate of medicine, agrochemicals or the like, and as additives, simply in high yield. CONSTITUTION:The reaction of a tertiary amine of formula I (R1-R3 are H, alkyl, cycloalkyl, alkenyl, substituted phenyl, R2 and R3 may combine with each other to form a ring where R1-R3 are not alkyl simultaneously) with a hydroperoxide of R4OOH (R4 is alkyl) is carried out in the presence of a ruthenium or thodium catalyst in a solvent benzene at -20-100 deg.C, preferably -10-80 deg.C to give the objective compound of formula II. The amount of hydroperoxide is 2-5 equivalents based on the tertiary amine of formula I. The catalyst is 0.1-20mol% based on the compound of formula I.
