PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a selective hydroisomerization method of compounds including at least one n-alkane chain containing ≥10C. SOLUTION: A compound to be treated is brought into contact with a catalyst comprising at least one hydro-dehydrogenating element and at least one molecular sieve with a mono- or bidimensional pore crystal lattice. The openings of the accessible pores of the molecular sieve are defined by 10 oxygen atoms, and the distance termed the bridge width between the pores is less than 0.70 nm, the molecular sieve is zeolites including boron atoms, and the catalyst subjected to a standard n-heptadecane isomerization test has a selectivity of at least 70% of isomerized products to a conversion of 95%. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyst for burning and removing a carbon-containing substance at low temperature and stably in a long period of time, a process for production of the catalyst, a material having the catalyst carried thereon, and a process for production of the material. SOLUTION: The catalyst for burning the carbon-containing substance is used for burning/removing the carbon-containing substance contained in exhaust gas from an internal-combustion engine. The material having the catalyst carried thereon is produced by depositing the catalyst for burning the carbon-containing substance on a ceramic base material. The catalyst for burning the carbon-containing substance is produced by conducting a mixing step, a drying step and a firing step. In the mixing step, zeolite other than sodalite is mixed with a source of an alkali metal element and/or a source of an alkaline-earth metal element at a specified ratio in water. In the drying step, a mixed solution prepared in the mixing step is heated to evaporate moisture and produce a solid material. In the firing step, the solid material is fired at 600°C or higher.
