Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately form a nano-sized carbonaceous electric conduction fine wire. SOLUTION: This electric conduction wire 1 has a structure wherein a plurality of single-wall carbon nanotubes (SWCNT) 3 are bundled with spaces 5 formed. The conduction wire 1 has high electric conductivity in the extension direction of the single-wall carbon nanotubes (SWCNT) 3. Intercalation seeds 7 are intercalated in the respective spaces 5 of the carbon nanotubes (SWCNT) 3 of the conduction wire 1 having the structure wherein a plurality of the nanotubes 3 are bundles. The electric conductivity of the conduction wire 1 is adjusted by optimizing the intercalated seeds, the intercalation quantity thereof, and intercalation conditions. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric wire for an automobile of light weight with good recycling characteristics.
SOLUTION: It is so structured that an insulator 2 is coated on the outer periphery of a conductor 1 made of carbon fiber. By using the carbon fiber with conductivity and a comparatively smaller specific gravity than a metal such as copper as a conductor, the wire can be made more light-weight as compared with a conventional wire for the automobile using a metal such as copper. Therefore, a harness can be made light-weight, and, by extension, the weight of a vehicle can be made more light-weight to improve fuel consumption.
