Abstract: PURPOSE:To enable formation of a high-quality bonded part in a composite material composed of graphite and a metal member. CONSTITUTION:This composite material 15 is composed of graphite 11 and a metal member 12 mutually bonded through an insert material 13. The insert material 13 is composed of an Ni-Cr-based alloy and there is a layer 20 formed by a reaction between Cr and C on the interface between the insert material 13 and graphite 11. The thickness of the reaction layer 20 is 0.1mum-40mum. The interface between the metal member 12 and the insert material 13 is bonded through a diffusion layer 21 formed by mutual diffusion of the atoms.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve the adhesion during temperature change and improve shock resistance and thermal shock resistance by making the substrate have desired surface property, using glass, where ceramic particles are dispersed, for an insulating layer. CONSTITUTION:First, metallic alkoxide solution is applied on the surface of the metallic base material layer 2 consisting of Ni-Fe-Co heat-resistant alloy, and this substrate 1 is dried at, for example, approximately a room temperature to 200 deg.C, and then it is heated in atmosphere at a temperature of, for example, 20 deg.C, and is kept for one hundred minutes at 600 deg.C, and then it is cooled at a speed of 20 deg.C per minute, whereby a metallic oxide layer 3 is constituted. Next, at the surface of this metallic oxide layer 3 is applied paste, wherein Al2O3 particles and lead borosilicate crystallized glass powder are dispersed uniformly in vehicle consisting of an organic solvent at the ratio of 1:1, by performing screen printed three times, and it is heat at a speed of, for example, 35 deg.C per minute in atmosphere and is kept for ten minutes at 910 deg.C, and then it is cooled, thus an insulating layer 4 is baked. Hereby, desired surface property can be gotten by the glass where ceramic powder is dispersed in the insulating layer.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain composite material having a joint with good quality by bending a ceramic leaf spring by the prescribed quantity according to dimensions of an indentor and loading elastic force of the leaf spring on the joining face of materials to be joined via a lead block. CONSTITUTION:A couple of first supporting part 12 and second supporting parts 13 and 14 are provided on a holder 11. A load transmission block 20 which is movable between both supporting members 12, and 13 and 14 and sandwiches the materials A to be joined at an interval with the first supporting part 12 is provided. The ceramics leaf spring 25 is arranged between the block 20 and the second supporting parts 13 and 14 and the indentor 30 is inserted into the central part of the spring. Here, the ceramics leaf spring 25 is bent according to the dimensions of the indentor 30 and the elastic force of the leaf spring 25 is loaded on the joining face of the materials A to be joined via the load block 20. By this method, the conjugated material having the joint with good quality can be obtained.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide excellent heat resistance together with the strength, surface accuracy and surface hardness necessary as a magnetic disk substrate by using titanium or titanium alloy as a core material and using ceramic or glass layers as surface hardened layers. CONSTITUTION:A core plate 1 consisting of the titanium or titanium alloy, insert materials 4 consisting of copper or copper alloy, nickel, titanium, nickel alloy or titanium alloy layers 3 and glass or ceramic layers 2 are laminated in this order. The copper or copper alloy has the poor adhesiveness to glass but since the insert materials 4 consisting of the sheets of the copper alloy are used on both sides of the films 3 of nickel, titanium, etc., having the high adhesiveness to the glass, the sufficient adhesive power is obtainable. The heat resistance of the substrate itself is greatly improved and the deterioration with age is simultaneously lessened by using the titanium or titanium alloy having a relatively small coefft. of thermal expansion as the core material.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To produce a composite material consisting of ceramic and metal by putting a ceramic molding and alloy powder of which the coefft. of thermal expansion has a small difference from the coefft. of thermal expansion of the molding into a mold and pressurizing the same from above at and under a high temp. and high pressure. CONSTITUTION:The molding 2 consisting of the ceramics such as alumina, silicon nitride, silicon carbide, Sialon, graphite or partially stabilized zirconia preliminarily molded to a prescribed shape is placed on the mold 1 and the powder 3 of an alloy such as 'Imvar(R)' alloy or 'Cobal(R)' alloy or metals such as Mo, W and Nb for forming alloys of a high m.p. and low coefft. of thermal expansion which have the small difference in the coefft. of thermal expansion from the ceramic molding is put thereunder. Foil or powder of Ti, Nb, Cu, Al, etc., for improving the affinity of both materials or a hard brazing filler metal 4 consisting of Ni, Ag, Cu, etc., is interposed between 2 and 3 according to need. While both materials are pressurized by a punch 6, the materials are heated to 1,000-2,000 deg.C by which the composite material consisting of the ceramics and metal being free from cracking and breakdown at a high temp. is obtd.
