Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control opening and closing of a plurality of intake control valves by the less number of drive sources, in an engine to vary the length of an intake pipe through opening and closing of the intake control valve in an intake passage. SOLUTION: A variable intake control device comprises an intake passage 2 situated downstream from a throttle valve 4; and branch passages 21 and 22 between intake manifolds 5 and 6. The branch passages 21 and 22 are intercommunicated through communication passages 31 and 32 and communication control valves V1 and V2 are located in the communication passages 31 and 32. The communication control valve V2 is opened and closed through the drive force of an actuator A0, and the communication control valve V1 is connected to the actuator A0 through a clutch 40. In a state that a drive force from the clutch 40 is not exerted, an opening state is held through the force of a spring. The clutch 40 is driven only through drive in a specified direction of the actuator A0. As a result, drive of the two intake control valves V1 and V2 is effected by one actuator A0.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve operational performance of a vehicle by closing a bypass valve more when the number of operating cylinders is reduced more at the time of engine braking and more opening the valve when the number of operating cylinder is more at the time of completion of the engine brake during partial cylinder operation in a variable number of cylinder engine. CONSTITUTION:In a variable number of cylinder engine, fuel supply to partial cylinders is stopped and controlled by a number of operating cylinder control means A, according to engine operating condition. The opening degree of a bypass valve E interposed in a bypass passage D for bypassing a throttle valve B is regulated by a bypass control means F so as to control an intake flow amount. In this case, the opening degree of the bypass valve E is increased more by the bypass control means F when the number of operating cylinder is reduced more, and also the bypass valve E is closing-operated by a prescribed amount which is set to be a level larger when the number of operating cylinder is reduced more when it is detected by a throttle opening detecting means C that the throttle valve B becomes fully closed condition from opening condition, so that operational performance of a vehicle is improved.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To scavenge the whose space inside a combustion chamber in a two-cycle engine. CONSTITUTION:Three exhaust valves 9, 10, 11 are arranged on one side of the inner wall face 3a of a cylinder head, and two intake valves 12, 13 are arranged on the other side of the inner face 3a of the cylinder head. Additionally, one intake valve 14 is arranged in the central area of the inner wall face 3a of the cylinder head. Openings of the respective intake valves 12, 13, 14 formed on the exhaust valves 9, 10, 11 side are covered by mask walls. An inclination angle in relation to the inner wall face of the cylinder head in the valve part of the intake valve 14 is set larger than the inclination angle in relation to the inner wall face of the cylinder head in the valve part of the intake valves 12, 13. The peripheral part of the combustion chamber is scavenged by the fresh air which flows in from the intake valves 12, 13, and the central area of the combustion chamber is scavenged by the fresh air which flows in from the intake valve 14.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To make new air flow in a loop shape so as to make scavenging in good condition by providing a mask wall opposing to the umbrella part of each exhaust valve on each intake valve which is nearest to the exhaust valve among a plurality of intake valves in a combustion chamber provided with a plurality of exhaust valve. CONSTITUTION:Exhaust valves 9, 10 are provided on the one side of a cylinder head inner wall surface, intake valves 12, 13 are provided on the other side respectively, and also the injection port 6 of an auxiliary chamber is provided on a symmetric position thereof. for example, the distance between the centers of umbrella parts of the intake valve 12 and the exhaust valve 9 is set smaller as compared with that concerning the exhaust valve 10 and the intake valve 12. A mask wall for covering the intake valve 12 is formed by the cylindrical inner wall part 16 of the intake valve 12, and extended along the range of an angle alpha1 (mask wall formed between straight lines L1a, L1b in contact with an outer peripheral edge of the umbrella part of the exhaust valve 9 opposing to the intake valve 12 from the center part on the umbrella part of the intake valve 12. Since new air flows in from the opening port opposite to the mask wall 16 in a loop shape, already burnt gas is scavenged by new air in good condition.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To perform a loop scavenging while to generate a swirl in a cavity by connecting a fresh air guide groove formed on a piston top face into the cavity as a tangent-line to a cavity peripheral wall surface. CONSTITUTION:A fresh air guide groove 15 is formed on a top face 2a of a piston 2 so as to guide a part of fresh air flowing in a loop form into a cavity 14. The fresh air guide groove 15 is connected to the cavity 14 as a tangent-line of a peripheral wall surface of the cavity 14. A swirl around an axis of the cavity 14 is generated by a part of the fresh air guide by the fresh air guide groove 15. The remaining fresh air flows inside a combustion chamber in a loop form to scavenge combusted gas. It is therefore possible to perform a loop scavenging so as to generate a swirl in the cavity 14.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve durability of a camshaft and a camshaft bearing by shifting a contacting part of each locker arm in a circunmferential direction of the camshaft to each other, thereby counterbalancing each horizontal component of a driving reaction force of an intake valve and that of a discharge valve. CONSTITUTION:When a camshaft 8 revolves, a locker arm 6 for an intake valve and a locker arms 7 for a discharge valve rotate, and an intake valve 2 and a discharge valve 4 are driven to open. A contacting part between a cam 8a for the intake valve and a roller 11 is shifted in a circumferential direction against a contacting part between a cam 8b for the discharge valve and a roller 14. As a result, the direction of the drive reaction force F1 for the intake valve and the direction of the drive reaction force F2 for the discharge valve 4 are different to each other. The resultant force of the drive reaction forces F1, F2 exerting on the camshaft 8 and its bearing respectively becomes smaller by the portion which the horizontal components f1, f2 of the drive reaction forces F1, F2 counterbalance. The durability of the camshaft and its bearing can be improved accordingly.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To keep off any carbon accumulation onto a nozzle port by stopping a supply of fuel a fuel supply system while opening an on-off valve doing on-off control over the nozzle port several times when the fuel supply into a combustion chamber should be done. CONSTITUTION:When a fuel supply into a combustion chamber of an engine is stopped due to decelerating drive or the like, any fuel injection action out of a fuel injection valve 41 of an air blast valve 9 is stopped. Simultaneously, while a fuel-cut flag is being set, an on-off valve 33, namely, the air blast valve 9 is repeatedly opened, and air out of a compressed air supply port 40 is repeatedly sprayed out of a nozzle port 32 via compressed air passages 39, 31, whereby carbon being accumulated in this nozzle port 32 is blown off by this compressed air. Thus, the carbon can be prevented from being accumulated on the nozzle port of the air blast valve.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent fuel from overflowing out of the inside of a compressed air passage by prohibiting any fuel supply to the inside of this passage when something wrong with a compressed air supply system in a fuel injection valve occurs and pressure in compressed air has continued to such a state as being less than the preset pressure. CONSTITUTION:An air blast valve 20 being set up on an inner wall of a cylinder head 3 forms a nozzle hole 24 being opened when a needle valve 23 is moved via a movable core 28 to be attracted at time of excitation of a solenoid 30, in one end of a needle inserting hole 22 in a housing 21. Then, it accompanies fuel to be sprayed out of a nozzle 37 of a fuel injection valve 36 with compressed air being fed to one end 32a of a ring nozzle chamber 32 formed in the housing 21, thereby spraying it to the inside of a combustion chamber. In this case, when pressure in the compressed air fed to the inside of a compressed air inflow passage 33 has continued to such a state as being less than the preset pressure over a specified period of time, any fuel supply out of the fuel injection valve 36 is controlled so as to be prohibited.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain good loop scavenging by forming mask wall extending toward a combustion chamber from the internal wall surface of a cylinder head, between intake and exhaust valves, and allowing an opening port between the periphery of the intake valve at the exhaust valve 7 side and the valve seat to close during the period of full opening of the intake valve by these mask walls. CONSTITUTION:A projected part 5 is formed toward a combustion chamber 4 on the internal wall surface 3a of a cylinder head 3 while it is extended along the entire diameter line on the internal wall surface 3a of the cylinder head 3. The projected part 5 is formed in triangular section with a ridge 5a on the bottom thereof, and a pair of intake valves 6 are positioned at one side of the projected part 5 and a pair of exhaust valves 7 are positioned at the other side thereof. A mask wall 10 is formed for each intake valve 6 to cover the opening port between the periphery of the intake valve 6 positioned at the exhaust valve 7 side and a valve seat 9. The opening ports can be closed, by these mask walls 10, during the period of full opening of the intake valve 6, and thus good loop scavenging can be maintained.
