The proper position search controlling means E4 establishes a proper position of the spherical aberration correcting unit E0 based on the error amplitude difference ΔA found by the error amplitude difference calculating means E3.

A resistor which is connected to the photo detector and in which a current flows, is also included. A voltage applied on the resistor (analog voltage) is normalized (normal voltage), based on which a control signal is output to the motor drive to stop the motor.

Further, the short-circuiting part 24A includes a through-hole 34A continuing to the wiring 22A and a through-hole 34B continuing to the wiring 22B.
