摘要: PURPOSE:To reform unbalance of motion due to a delay in the cooling speed of shape memory alloy wires and to enable increase of a speed, by a method wherein a machine spring is mounted to an actuator employing a pair of shape memory alloys wires. CONSTITUTION:A slider 13 is coupled to a pair of shape memory alloy wires 1 and 2 therebetween. A machine spring 3, having a set load being an intermedi ate value between a load under the high temperature state and a load under the low temperature state of the shape memory alloy wires 1 and 2, is coupled to either of the shape memory alloy wires 1 and 2. After the one shape memory allow wire 2 is heated and the other shape memory alloy wire 1 is cooled, and when, conversely, the shape memory alloy wires are cooled and heated, a delay in the cooling speed of the shape memory alloy wire 2 being cooled is compensated through expansion of the machine spring 3.

摘要: PURPOSE:To equalize reciprocating forces by storing reverse states supplementarily above and below transformation temperature in a plurality of two types of bidirectional memory alloys, and inverting the direction of a current flow to a Peltier effect element interposed therebetween. CONSTITUTION:Peltier effect element 12a, 12b are interposed between a plurality of two types of memory alloys 11a and 11b, laminated to form a composite element 10. The shape is stored to vary the alloy 11a to vary bidirectionally above and below the transformation temperature. The alloy 11b is stored to vary the reverse shape to the alloy 11a in the bidirectionality above and below the temperature. A current is flowed through leads, not shown, to the elements 12a, 12b interposed between the alloys 11a and 11b, the direction is inverted to invert the bending direction as by an arrow A at the boundary of the transformation temperature to the element 10. Thus, the driving forces of reciprocation are equalize. This is adapted for an actuator.

摘要: PURPOSE:To generate driving power by making excellent responsive use of a formal change by inserting a small pipe made of shape memory alloy into a large pipe and providing a means of forcibly flowing at least either of cooling or heating liquid into a clearance between both the pieces and the inside of the small pipe. CONSTITUTION:A small cylindrical pipe 2 is inserted into a large cylindrical pipe 1, and flow paths 3a, 3b are formed between the pipes 1, 2 and in the cylindrical pipe 2 respectively. Both the pipes 1, 2 are made of shape memory alloy respectively and fixed to a base 4 and an end plate 5. When a control valve 9 of piping 10 is closed by a control device 12, and both the pipes 1, 2 are heated through lead wires 11a, the pipes 1, 2 make an effort to shrink into a form kept in memory at high temperature to generate recovering force. Since the recovering force is stronger than the bias force of a compression coil spring 7, both the pipes 1, 2 and the spring 7 shrink to lift an object to be driven. On the other hand, when the control valve 9 is opened to supply a cooling liquid between both the pipes 1, 2 and in the cylindrical pipe 2 from its supply source, the pipes 1, 2 and the spring 7 elongate to lower the object to be driven.

CONSTITUTION:The expanding and contracting motion of a shape memory alloy 18 is transmitted through a cable 28 to actuate the arm 2 of a robot. The shape memory alloy 18 is made to have a band-like external shape so that the outer surface area of this alloy 18 becomes larger than that of a round shape one. Further, this shape memory alloy 18 is disposed in a fluid passage 32 in, for example, a silicon tube. Further upon cooling of the shape memory alloy 18, cooling air is fed through this fluid passage 32.

摘要: PURPOSE:To prevent overheat of a shape memory alloy, by connecting the shape memory alloy with a positive-characteristics resistor in series in an electric circuit, and locating the positive-characteristics resistor in the vicinity of the shape memory alloy to thereby utilize resistance of the positive characteristics resistor. CONSTITUTION:A plate-like shape memory alloy 1 such as Ti-Ni alloy and a positive-characteristics resistor 2 made of a mixture of carbon and high molecular material are sandwichedly combined with each other through a silicone resin 3 as an insulating material having good heat conductivity. The shape memory alloy 1 is engaged with a phosphor bronze leaf spring 4 for allowing bidirectional operation of the alloy 1. One end of the leaf spring 4 is exposed to operate as an external terminal 7. One of electrodes of the positive-characteristics resistor 2 is electrically connected through a contact material 5 to the shape memory alloy 1, while the other electrode is connected to an external terminal 6. Each of these components is integrally formed with a resin mold 8 to construct an actuator. Thus, overheat of the shape memory alloy 1 is prevented owing to resistance of the positive-characteristics resistor 2.

A heating and cooling unit 15 for generating the extending and contracting operations of the coil spring is disposed around the spring 9. A step for restricting the movement of the pin 17 for preventing the rotor 12 from reversely rotating is formed in the groove 21 of the rotor 12.

摘要: PURPOSE:To aim at the promotion of sharp reduction in a space for assemblage to various devices, by utilizing the expansion and contraction of a form memory alloy wire guided by a guide tube, while dispensing with the space required for three-dimensional or plane form variations in the alloy wire heretofore in use. CONSTITUTION:When a form memory alloy wire 12 is energized with a continuous rating current and heated with a switch turned on, this alloy wire 12 tries to be restored to its memory form, but since the form is restrained by a guide tube 11, it contracts as far as the whole length as leaving its form almost unchanged intact. Therefore, a bias spring 21 is stretched out, and an actuator 19 comes to a backward position (left). Next, stopping the energizing and heating by the current with the switch 23 turned off, when an on-off valve 25 is opened and compressed air is passed through the inside of the guide tube 11, the alloy wire is quickly cooled, losing its contracting force, and stretched out by tension of the bias spring 21 whereby the actuator 19 goes back to a forward position. With repetitions of the above motion, as an actuator it quickly acts, and it has flexibility so that assemblage to various devices is convenient enough and, what is more, the space also is reducible.

CONSTITUTION:Shape memory alloys 8a, 8b for storing two types of different shape and Peltier elements 18a, 18b are bonded in a laminar state to form a composite element 8. The shape memory alloys 8a is heated by the elements 18a, 18b, the alloy 8b is cooled to set the alloy 8a to the transition point or higher and the alloy 8b to the transition point or lower. An operating lever 11 in which the shape that the alloy 8a is stored is drawn rightward. Since the polarity of the current flowed to the elements 18a, 18b alters when the switch 15 is switched, the heating surface and the heat absorbing surface are inverted. The shape stored by the alloy 8b is presented, and the lever is pressed rightward. The current flowed to the element is controlled to select the responding speed in a wide range.

CONSTITUTION:An actuator rocks a lever member 7 through a fulcrum 2 by a bias spring 1 to contact contacts 5a, 5b. A shape memory alloy pipe (pipe) 8 having 1mm. of outer diameter and 0.8mm. of inner diameter is provided at the other end of the member 7, normally elongated under atmosphere of 20 deg.C to separate the contacts 5a, 5b. Thus, the pipe 8 is energized through a power supply line 6 to be heated to 100 deg.C to generate transition recovery force in high temperature phase of the shape memory alloy to close the contacts 5a, 5b. After energizing, air of 0 deg.C is fed through a coolant supply pipe 9 from a coolant feeding machine 4 into the pipe 8 to again separate the contacts 5a, 5b.

CONSTITUTION:When a switch 9 is turned ON, a positive property thermistor 20 and a control component 21 are electrified, the control component 21 is extend by recollecting memory through self-heating of the control component 21 and a control valve 12 of a water cock 3 is opened through a lever 13. In this instance, although an electric current is applied to the positive properties' thermistor 20 also, as the positive property thermistor 20 is in a state to be heated through the self-heating of the control component 21, the temperature of the positive property thermistor 20 is ascended, resistance is increased suddently at a certain fixed temperature, an electric current value to be applied to the control component 21 is decreased, the control component 21 is contracted through decrease of a self-heating value of the control component 21 and the control valve 12 of the water cock 3 is closed through the lever 13. It becomes that the titled air conditioner is controlled by repeating opening and closing of the control valve 12 within a certain temperature range by repeating the above matter.
