    Abstract: PURPOSE:To suppress generation of NOx by furnishing two air supply passages coupled with a combustion chamber via respective air supply valves, forming a mask wall along that peripheral part of each air supply valve on its exhaust valve side, and by arranging an air supply control valve closing at low load on No.2 air supply passage. CONSTITUTION:No.1, No.2 air supply valves 6a, 6b are arranged on an inner wall surface portion 3b constituting a bottom wall surface of a groove 5, which is provided on the inner wall surface 3a of a cylinder head 3, and No.1, No.2 exhaust valves 7a, 7b are arranged in an approx. flat inner wall surface portion 3c except the mentioned groove 5. These wall surface portions 3b, 3c are connected together via the surrounding wall 9 of this groove 5, but this surrounding wall 9 is positioned very close to the peripheries of the abovementioned air supply valves 6a, 6b, being composed of a pair of mask walls 9a stretching in the form of a circular arc along their perimeters and also new air guide walls 9b, 9c. An air supply control valve, not illustrated, closed when the engine bears a low load is interposed on No.2 air supply passage in communication with No.2 air supply port 12b.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To increase the flowing quantity of new air or the like supplied to a combustion chamber and improve an output, by setting the internal diameter of each recessed groove formed at the inner wall surface of a cylinder head, at a size whereby new air or the like does not circulate through an opening between the recessed groove and each air sucking valve or the like located inside this. CONSTITUTION:A cylinder head 3 has a plurality of inner wall surface portions 3a, 3b which are respectively flat. And a pair of cylindrical recessed grooves 8 are formed at one inner wall surface portion 3b, and also, respective valve seatings 9 are respectively formed at the insides of respective cylindrical recessed grooves 8' and at the same time, respective air sucking valves 10 are respectively provided. In this instance, the internal diameter of each recessed groove 8 is set at a size whereby new air does not circulate through an opening between the perimeter edge of each umbrella portion of each air sucking valve 10 and the inner perimeter surface of each recessed groove 8, when each umbrella portion is each located within each recessed groove 8. And it is so set that the substantial supply of new air is started when each umbrella portion of each air sucking valve 10 has passed out of each recessed groove 8.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a good layer by opening an air supply control valve when an engine load is lower than a predetermined level during low load operation of engine. CONSTITUTION:An air supply control valve 16 arranged in a branch path 13b is closed when an engine is operated with relatively high load during low load operation, and fuel is ejected only through a first fuel injection valve 10a regardless of load during low load operation of engine. Consequently, fresh air containing fuel is fed only through a first air supply port 9a during load operation of engine. The air supply control valve 16 is opened for a low engine load even during low engine load operation. Since fresh air is fed from both air supply ports 9a, 9b, flow speed is decreased to weaken enhancing function of a swirl. Since turbulence provided to mixture gas is weakened, quantity of mixture gas to be dispersed downward is reduced thus remaining sufficient quantity of mixture gas around an ignition plug 8.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To ensure satisfactory ignition to a mixture by resting the opening and closing operation of one of a pair of exhaust valves for allowing burnt gas to counterflow in directions in which swirl streams in opposite direction are respectively produced in a combustion chamber, during low load operation. CONSTITUTION:A two-cycle internal combustion engine has a pair of exhaust valves for allowing burnt gas to counterflow in directions in which swirl streams in opposite directions are produced respectively when they are opened respectively. In this arrangement, there is provided a device for resting one 7b of the exhaust valves during low load operation of the internal combustion engine. This device 40 has a main section in which, for example, a piston 42 is disposed in a cylinder 41. Further, when a port shut-off valve 54 is moved leftward by an actuator 53 so as to open a lubrication oil port 51, the piston 42 is lowered by a rocker arm 44 so as to hold the exhaust valve 7b at its closing position. With this arrangement it is possible to strengthen the swirl streams during low load operation of the internal combustion engine.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To perform accurate air-fuel ratio control irrespective of changes in scavenging characteristics by detecting temperature of emission emitted from an internal combustion engine, calculating a correction factor for compensating escape of fresh intake according to the detected value, and thereby correcting a fuel supply rate. CONSTITUTION:A 2-cycle internal combustion engine 1 or the like having a large escape ratio of fresh intake is provided with a means 2 for supplying a required rate of fuel to the engine 1 and a means 3 for calculating a fuel supply rate determined by operating conditions such as load and rpm of the engine 1. A means 4 for detecting the temperature of emission emitted from the engine 1 and a means 5 for calculating a correction factor value for compensating the escape of the fresh intake according to the detected temperature of the emission and for correcting the fuel supply rate calculated with the means 3 are also provided. A means 6 for forming a fuel supply signal to be sent to the means 2 is further provided so that a corrected rate of fuel is supplied to the engine 1.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To perform accurate air-fuel ratio control irrespective of pressures in an intake manifold of an internal combustion engine by detecting the intake manifold pressure and correcting fuel supply rate so that blow-through of fresh intake is compensated according to the detected value. CONSTITUTION:A 2-cycle internal combustion engine 1 or the like having a great blow-through rate of fresh intake is provided with a means 2 for supplying a required rate of fuel and a means 3 for calculating a fuel supply rate determined by operating conditions such as load and rpm of the internal combustion engine 1. A means 4 is also provided for detecting pressure in an intake manifold 2 of the engine 1. A means 5 is further provided for calculating a correction factor of fuel supply rate based on the detected pressure in the intake manifold 2 and for correcting the fuel supply rate calculated with the means 3 according to the blow-through. A means 6 is further provided for forming a fuel supply signal to be sent to the means 2 so that a corrected rate of fuel is supplied to the engine 1.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To simply and efficiently cool intake air by means of cooling water in a cooling water container cooled by means of refrigerant in the air conditioner. CONSTITUTION:A water-cooled intake air cooling deice 27 is situated, by a method wherein a cooling water container is situated in an intake air pipe, running from a supercharger, and a refrigerant passage, running from an air conditioner, so as to perform heat-exchange on a second bypass passage 29 running around a suction pipe 4 locate down a line from a supercharger 7. In this case, the intake air cooling device 2 is placed so that cooling water in a cooling water container 31 is heat-exchangeable with intake air, flowing through an intake air passage 32, and an air conditioner refrigerant flowing through an air conditioner refrigerant passage 34. The cooling water container 31 coupled to a circulating pump 36 through a cooling water piping 35 to form a cooling water circulating system. This constitution causes cooling water in the cooling water container 31 by means of the air conditioner refrigerant and cooling of intake air in the suction pipe 4 by means of cooling water.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To increase the quantity of fresh air supply in a heavy loading range to improve engine output by providing a driving mechanism for opening an exhaust valve earlier than an intake valve, and a means for swirling fresh air when the fresh air stored in an exhaust port or the like flows backward into a combustion chamber. CONSTITUTION:When an engine is under heavy load, an intake control valve 16 is opened, and an exhaust control valve 34 is closed, and as each of exhaust valves 31a, 31b opens during the downward stroke of a piston, the exhaust is rapidly discharged. On the other hand, as each of intake valves 21a, 21b opens, fresh air is flowed from each of intake ports 20a, 20b into a combustion chamber 2. At this time, pressure in each of exhaust ports 32a, 32b is temporarily reduced to negative value, and the fresh air is therefore stored partly in each of the exhaust ports 32a, 32b and an exhaust manifold 33. After then, the stored fresh air is flowed backward into the combustion chamber 2, and moreover swirled by an eccentric exhaust port 32b and mask 5 on the side of a cylinder head situated above the combustion chamber 2.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To enhance the rate of fuel consumption and prevent knocking by giving a different compression ratio at the time of supercharging a mechanically supercharged engine from the time with no supercharging, and by varying the compression ratio during supercharging according to the atmospheric condition. CONSTITUTION:In an engine equipped with a mechanical supercharger 3 and a compression ratio varying device 10, a control computer 13 inputs signals from a revolving speed sensor 14, a suction air amount sensor 15, a dry temp. and a wet temp. sensor 18, 19 and an atmospheric pressure sensor 20. When the load is over a specified value, the supercharger 3 is driven, and the compression ratio is sunk by said compression ratio varying device 10. At this time, the ratio is varied according to the humidity and pressure of the atmosphere. This will enhance the rate of fuel consumption during no supercharging as well as prevent knocking during supercharging.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent transient knocking by delaying the switching of valve timing to transmit said timing to a supercharge control means. CONSTITUTION:An internal-combustion engine is provided in an intake pipe 2 with a supercharger 1. This supercharge control means consists of a means 3 (for example, clutch and bypass controlling valve) for controlling the supercharging condition of the supercharger 1 according to the running conditions of the engine, a means 4 for controllably switching valve timing according to the running condition of the engine, a detecting means 5 for detecting the switching point of valve timing and a delaying means 6 for delaying the switching of valve timing detected by said detecting means 5 to transmit the switching to the supercharge control means 3. The switching of valve timing is detected by the valve timing switching detecting means 5. This detecting signal is delayed by the delaying means 6. When time taken for completion of switching the valve timing elapses, the switching signal is transmitted to said means 3 to start the operation of the supercharger 1.
