Abstract: PURPOSE:To detect a deterioration degree of catalyst correctly based on devia tion between air-fuel ratios by both air-fuel ratio sensors over and under the catalyst after continuity of a condition where the air-fuel ratio of exhaust gas flowing into the catalyst is on the rich side and completion of emission of oxygen adsorbed and held by the catalyst. CONSTITUTION:Oxidation-reduction catalyst 11 is disposed inside an exhaust gas passage 10. A first air-fuel ratio sensor 16 to detect ax air-fuel ratio based on a concentration of an unburnt component in exhaust gas is disposed inside the exhaust gas passage 10 upstream of the oxidation-reduction catalyst. A second air-fuel ratio sensor 18 is disposed similarly in the exhaust gas passage 10 downstream of the oxydation-reducon catalyst 11. In this case, when a condition where the air-fuel ratio of the exhaust gas flowing into the oxidation- reduction catalyst 11 is on the rich side continues, and if emission of oxygen adsorbed and held by the oxidation-reduction catalyst 11 is completed, a deterioration degree of the oxidation-reduction catalyst 11 is detected by a deterioration degree detecting means based on deviation between the air-fuel ratios detected by both air-fuel ratio sensors 16, 18.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To exactly detect the degree of deterioration of a catalyst by calculating the absolute quantity of oxygen adsorbed to the catalyst after switching of the air-fuel ratio based on the quantity of exhaust gas circulated through the catalyst by the time a detected air-fuel ratio has reached a desired air-fuel ratio, and the deviation of the desired air-fuel ratio from a theoretical air-fuel ratio. CONSTITUTION:A catalyst 11 is arranged in the exhaust system 10 of an internal combustion engine. Further, an air-fuel ratio sensor 18 is arranged at least downstream of the catalyst 11 in order to detect the air-fuel ratio of an air-fuel mixture supplied from a fuel injection valve 12, etc. In this case, the detected air-fuel ratio is switched to each scheduled air-fuel ratio on the rich side or on the lean side with respect to a theoretical air-fuel ratio by a means A. Besides, after the switching of the air-fuel ratio, the quantity of gas circulated through the catalyst by the time when each scheduled air-fuel ratio is reached, is detected by a means B. Then, the absolute quantity of oxygen adsorbed by the catalyst is calculated by a means C based on the deviation of each scheduled air-fuel ratio from the theoretical air-fuel ratio after the switching of the air-fuel ratio, and the quantity of gas circulated through the catalyst. Thus, the degree of deterioration of the catalyst is detected by a means D based on the absolute quantity of oxygen.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the overheating of a fuel injection valve for cylinder according to the operation of an internal combustion engine while outputting a requested power to a drive shaft even if the pressure of a fuel to the fuel injection valve for cylinder is not sufficient and the fuel injection valve cannot be used in a power output device having the internal combustion engine with the fuel injection valve for cylinder and a fuel injection valve for port and motors. SOLUTION: A fuel pressure Pf to the fuel injection valve for cylinder is less than a reference fuel pressure Pref, a vehicle requested power Pv* obtained based on a requested torque Tr* requested from the drive shaft or a power limit Pelim, whichever is smaller, is set to an engine requested power Pe* (S120, S130), and the engine and two motors are controlled so that the set engine requested power Pe* can be outputted from the engine and the requested torque Tr* can be outputted to the drive shaft while discharging a battery. Thus, while outputting the requested torque Tr* to the drive shaft, the rise of the tip temperature of the fuel injection valve for cylinder caused by operating the engine under high load can be suppressed. Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform continuity of exhaust gas for HC desorption to an HC adsorbing material layer when starting an engine in an engine warming-up state. SOLUTION: This device is provided with an exhaust system including an HC adsorbing material layer and an exhaust gas purifying catalyst layer having an oxygen holding function. By passing the exhaust gas through the HC adsorbing material layer when starting a cold temperature of the engine, the HC absorbing material layer is made to adsorb HC in the exhaust gas. By passing exhaust gas through the HC adsorbing material layer after warming-up of the engine and the exhaust system, HC adsorbed by the HC adsorbing material layer is desorbed. An HC eliminating operation for the engine exhaust device for a wheel for discharging the desorbed HC by being converted into H2O and CO2 by oxygen held in the exhaust gas purifying catalyst layer is ensured and generation of NOx is suppressed by the exhaust gas purifying catalyst layer when starting the engine after warming-up of the engine.
