Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a preparation process for a catalyst which shows a high activity with respect to the polymerization of ethylene and an α-olefin of a higher molecular weight and synthesizes an ethylene polymer and a copolymer having a comparatively narrow molecular weight distribution and a uniform branch distribution.
SOLUTION: The preparation process for the catalyst comprises supplying porous silica having a specific pore volume and an almoxane solution, of which the volume is less than the pore volume of silica, in an amount sufficient to supply a predetermind amount of aluminum to bring both of them into contact with each other and impregnating the pores of silica with the solution. Before the contact, an organomagnesium compound is added to the silica to be reacted with a reactive hydroxy group and a non-metallocene transition metal compound is added to the reaction mixture. After the contact, dried silica particles impregnated with solid almoxane are collected.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nozzle capable of carrying out a favorable shearing function at a feed speed of a dispersed hydrocarbon and mixing droplets of the fed hydrocarbon and catalyst. SOLUTION: This nozzle comprises (a) a nozzle barrel 2 having a center long axis, an inlet end part, and a tip end part; (b) a tip 14 having a vertical center axis, the inner surface, and an outer surface and which is to be connected with the tip end part of the nozzle barrel 2; and (c) at least three apertures extended from the inner side surface of the tip 14 to the outside surface. Each aperture part has the length longer than the width, further has a center long axis constituted of a first middle point of the inner side surface 137 of the tip 14, a second middle point in the outer surface 135 of the tip 14, and a line transversely crossing the first and the second middle points. The angle θ formed between the center long axis of each aperture part and the center long axis of the nozzle barrel 2 is from zero to about 75 deg.. Such a nozzle is used as an atomizing nozzle.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pigment receptor element which is used for a heat sensitive pigment transfer method, and is excellent in curl resistance. SOLUTION: This pigment receptor element has a biaxially drawn composite film and a pigment image receptor layer which are laminated on the surface side of a supporting body in this order, and the composite film includes a thermoplastic core layer having micro-voids, and at least one thermoplastic surface layer which substantially does not have voids. The supporting body has a biaxially drawn film, an undercoat layer and a charging preventive layer which are laminated on the rear side in this order. The undercoat layer contains an acrylic monomer, an acrylic homopolymer, an acrylic copolymer, a mixture of polyethylene with a polypropylene copolymer or terpolymer, or polypropylene containing 0.1g/m or higher of titanium dioxide, and the ratio of thickness of the film on the rear side to the composite film, is in a range of 0.45-1.0.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermoplastic film which can be printed with a liquid toner. SOLUTION: This film is coated with a film essentially comprising ethylene- acrylate copolymer which can accept an electrostatic image with a liquid toner. The coating film contains an acryl polymer. In a specified example, the coating film contains ethylene-acrylate as the main component and a small amt. of a filler such as talc and silica. Or, the coating film may contain wax and/or pigments such as titanium oxide. In another example, carboxylate groups of the copolymer are neutralized with metal ions of Ia, IIa and IIb groups in the periodical table, especially with sodium.

Abstract: Petroleum wax feeds are converted to high Viscosity Index lubricants by a two-step hydrocracking-hydroisomerization process in which the wax feed is initially subjected to hydrocracking under mild conditions with a conversion to non-lube range products of no more than 30 weight percent of the feed. The hydrocracking is carried out at a hydrogen pressure of at least 7000 kPa (1000 psig) using an amorphous catalyst which preferentially removes the aromatic components present in the initial feed. The hydrocracked effluent is then subjected to hydroisomerization in a second step using a low acidity dicarboxylic acid-treated zeolite Beta or mordenite catalyst which effects a preferential isomerization on the paraffin components to less waxy, high V.I. isoparaffins. The second stage may be operated at high pressure by cascading the first stage product into the second stage or at a lower pressure, typically from 1480 to 7000 kPa (200 to 1000 psig). The second stage catalyst is preferably a noble metal containing zeolite Beta catalyst which is treated with oxalic acid to give a low Alpha Value, typically below 10. The second stage is carried out at relatively low temperature, typically from 316 DEG to 343 DEG C (600 DEG to 650 DEG F) with a 343 DEG C+ (650 DEG F+) conversion in the range of 10 to 20 weight percent of the second stage feed but with high selectivity for isomerization of the paraffins.
