PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a polycarbonate resin having good color tone and excellent characteristics in transparency, heat resistance, mechanical strength, and impact resistance; and to provide a polycarbonate resin composition containing the polycarbonate resin.SOLUTION: The method for producing the polycarbonate resin comprises a step of performing a polycondensation reaction of a carbonate diester with a dihydroxy compound in the presence of a transesterification catalyst. The transesterification catalyst contains phosphorus compounds shown by the following general formulae (1) and/or (2) and at least one basic compound selected from the group consisting of compounds of group 1 elements (except hydrogen) of the long period type periodic table, compounds of group 2 elements thereof, basic boron compounds, basic phosphorus compounds and nitrogen-containing basic compounds.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a content of phenol contained in a polycarbonate resin composition obtained, and suppress an offensive odor.SOLUTION: A process for producing a polycarbonate resin includes feeding a melted polycarbonate resin obtained by polycondensation reaction between a dihydroxy compound and diphenyl carbonate into a kneading extruder equipped with a vent portion, a water injection portion, and a screw, followed by a water injection/devolatilization treatment. Here, an area of a vent port of the vent portion per flow rate of the melted polycarbonate resin satisfies a condition of following formula (1), a temperature of the melted polycarbonate resin is 350°C or lower, and a number of rotations (n) of the screw satisfies following formula (2): A≥1.5×10(m/(kg/h)) (1), and n×d>25,000 (2) (in the formula (2), n is a number of rotations (rpm) of the screw and d is a diameter (m) of the screw).

SOLUTION: The strand comprising an aliphatic polyester polymer or an aliphatic polyester polymer composition is put in a liquid cooling medium such as water in a molten state to be cooled and solidified for 3 s or above and the solidified strand is cut to manufacture pellets. The control is independently performed for each section by dividing the die head 11 into a plurality of sections.
