    Abstract: PURPOSE:To shorten the length of the transmission in the title in its axle direc tion by combining a single planetary gear train with a Ravigneaux type com pound planetary gear train and connecting respective these gears and carrier to a case, input shaft and output shaft through a clutch and brake. CONSTITUTION:A single planetary gear train 30 is composed of an sun gear 31 a planetary pinion 32, a ring gear 33 and a carrier 34. A Ravigneaux type compound planetary gear train 40 15 composed of the first, second sun gear 41, 42, short and long pinion 43, 44, a Ravigneaux ring gear and a carrier 45, 46. Here, the first and second sun gear, the Ravigneaux carrier, and the sun gear 41, 42, 46, 31 are always connected to an input shaft 10 through a clutch C1-C4, and the Ravigneaux ring gear 45 to an output shaft 20 through the carrier 34. Therefore, its assembly can be made easy and its length in the direction can be shortened, and a desired speed change ratio and a good balance among respective speed change rations can be obtained.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To check rotation of a sun gear of a double pinion planetary gear mechanism by one-way clutch and to enable speed change for 5-stage forward by using a single pinion planetary gear mechanism and a double pinion planetary gear mechanism for transmission for an automobile. CONSTITUTION:Turning force is transmitted to a counter ring gear 43 for transmitting driving force to an output shaft 45 from a planetary pinion 17 of the first planetary gear mechanism 13 and the outer periphery side planetary pinion 22 of the second planetary gear mechanism 14. When a carrier 25 of the gear mechanism 13 is fixed and power is input from a sun gear 15 to operate the gear mechanism 13, it becomes backward stage. In case of inputting power from the sun gear 15, if a carrier 25 is rotated to operate the gear mechanism 14, it becomes the first speed forward. On the contrary, if power is input from a sun gear 19 and a carrier 4 is fixed, it becomes the second speed forward. In this case, if the sun gear 15 is fixed, it becomes the third speed forward. If power is input from the sun gear 19 and the carrier 24, it becomes the fourth speed forward, and if power is input from the carriers 24, 25, it becomes the fifth speed forward.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To simplify the configuration of an automatic transmission and suppress the cost by moving a cylinder tube upon receiving a force in a specific direction from a brake band, thereby opening a valve, and by furnishing a valve device to apply fluid pressure in the direction of decreasing the brake band fastening force or to exhaust the pressure. CONSTITUTION:When brakes are applied by supplying oil pressure to a fluid pressure cylinder 33 and fastening a brake band 22 on a brake drum 20, a cylinder tube 35 is moved together with an anchor rod as specified in the rotational direction of the brake drum 20. When the direction is such as actuating a valve device, the oil pressure wherewith the brake band 22 is fastened on the brake drum 20, is exhausted from the cylinder tube 35 to disengage brakes. When the direction of movement is opposite, the valve device shall remain out of actuation, and the brake drum fastening force is maintained to keep application of brakes continuously. That is, disengagement of brakes is carried out automatically according to the rotational direction of the brake drum 20 so as to function as a one-way clutch.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To aim at simplification and miniaturization of the structure of the title transmission by combining a single pinion type planetary gear train with a double pinion type planetary gear train through respective three clutches and brakes. CONSTITUTION:A single pinion type planetary gear train 10 in which a sun gear 11 is connected to an input shaft IS through the first clutch C1 and a carrier 14 is connected to an output shaft OS and a double pinion type planetary gear train 20 in which a carrier 25 is connected through the second clutch C2 and a sun gear 21 is connected through the third clutch C3 to the input shaft IS are combined together under interposition of the first - the third brakes B1-B3. The first speed by the engagement between C1 and B1, the second speed by the engagement between C2 and B2, the third speed by the engagement between C2 and B3, the fourth seed by the engagement C2 and C3, the fifth speed by the engagement between C3 and B3 and a backward motion stage by the engagement between C1 and B2 can be set up selectively. The multi-stage speed change stage can be set up by a relatively simple structure such as this and fitting is easy, the length in an axial direction is shortened so that the whole system can be formed in a small size.

And in case where the engine load is less than the prescribed value and the continuous variable transmission mode is selected, transmission gear ratio of a continuous variable transmission D is adjusted by the first controlling means B so that an engine is operated on the curve of the optimum fuel cost. On the other hand, in case where the engine load is more than the prescribed value and a stage transmission mode is selected, either one of a plurality of kinds of transmission gear ratio which have been set in advance is decided based on the engine load and car speed, and it is controlled that the transmission gear ratio of the continuous variable transmission D is maintained at the decided transmission gear ratio.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent shock due to gear change by providing an auxiliary clutch, an intermediate shaft and an one-way clutch between an input shaft and an output shaft whereby arranging a clutch for engine braking in paralle with the one-way clutch. CONSTITUTION:An auxiliary clutch 54 and an intermediate shaft 31 are provided between an input shaft 22 and an output shaft 30 wherein an one-way clutch 85 transmitting power to the output shaft (30) side is provided between the intermediate shaft 31 and the output shaft 30 or the input shaft 22. In this constitution, the auxiliary clutch 54 is connected with a main clutch 12 in a similar manner as in series whereby the auxiliary clutch 54 is conditioned to a semi-engagement while the main clutch 12 is maintained in an engagement when paired gears are changed over. Accordingly, a delicate timing control required between both clutches 54 and ? is eliminated, thereby dissolving both shock due to change gear and responded revolving speed of an engine. On the other hand, as a clutch 85 is available, satisfactory inertia running can be accomplished as far as the clutch 85 for engine braking is not actuated.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To eliminate shock due to gear change by providing an auxiliary clutch between an inpnt shaft and an output shaft whereby conditioning the auxiliary clutch to a semi-engagement while a main clutch is being maintained in an engagement when paired gears for power transmission are changed over. CONSTITUTION:An auxiliary clutch 54 is provided between an inpnt shaft 22 and an output shaft 30 so as to be connected with a main clutch in a similar manner as in series. And when the piared gear of a transmission gear 14 is changed over, the auxiliary clutch 54 is conditioned to a semi-engagement while the main clutch 12 is being maintained in an engagement by a shift control device 102. As a result, when the transmission gear 14 is shifted, a vehicle is driven by the power transmitted by way of the auxiliary clutch 54. Owing to this constitution, a delicate timing control required between the main clutch 12 and the auxiliary clutch 54 is eliminated, thereby eliminating shock due to change gear and responded revolving speed of an engine.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To enable the time required for gear shifting to be shortened by providing, between an engine and a non-continuously variable transmission, the No.1 clutch which has a one-way clutch and is engaged when a vehicle is running, and the No.2 clutch which is engaged when engine brake is required. CONSTITUTION:Between the engine 10 and the non-continuously variable transmission 14 of a vehicle are provided both the No.1 clutch 22 which has a one- way clutch 20, transmitting the power between a crankshaft 16 and an input shaft 18 only in the direction from the engine 10 towards the non-continuously variable transmission 14, and is engaged when the vehicle is running, and the No.2 clutch 24 which directly interconnects between the crankshaft 16 and the input shaft 18 and is engaged when engine break is required. Hereby, when the vehicle is running, the gear stage of the non-continuously variable transmission 14 can be changed by means of an actuator while the engine power output is temporarily lowered with the No.1 clutch 22 kept in the engaged state, and accordingly, the time required for gear shifting can be shortened.

CONSTITUTION:In a double clutch device 12, the first rotor 38 and the second rotor 30 are disposed on both sides of a friction plate 40 as a common friction plate, so that the first and second rotors 38, 30 are driven in the direction of the facing to each other by the first piston 46 and the second piston 50.
