PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a material capable of effectively adsorbing away a hazardous gas such as a volatile organic compound (VOC), etc., and a method for producing adsorbing and decomposing material capable of enhancing photocatalytic activity and achieving excellent gas decomposing capability when decomposing. SOLUTION: The adsorbing and decomposing material is a composite of a photocatalyst supporting a first promoter composed of a noble metal or a metal oxide, and composed of a tungsten oxide, and a porous body consisting mainly of a silicon oxide containing a second promoter having the same metal element as the first promoter, having a specific surface area of 300 m 2 /g or more. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a brush functioning as a charging brush for an image forming apparatus, capable of uniformly charging an image carrier over a long period while reducing loads on the image carrier. SOLUTION: Regarding the brush, 1×10 0 Ωcm to 1×10 5 Ωcm are satisfied in volume resistivity of a brush bristle 14, D≤11×10 -6 is satisfied in diameter D(m) of the brush bristle 14, P≤0.15 is satisfied in occupation ratio P of the brush bristle 14 (provided that, P=(πD 2 /4)×n, and n denotes the density(MF/m 2 ) of the brush bristle), L≥8000 is satisfied in surface area L (m 2 /m) per unit length in the longitudinal direction of the brush bristle 14 (provided that L=πD×n), the brush satisfying the conditions is suitably used for an electrifying device of an image carrier. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cleaner for easily removing even a material to be cleaned firmly adhering to an adherend, without damaging the flexibility and processability of polymer fibers, in addition to cleanability from an initial stage, when cleaning or polish is performed by brush bristles made of a large number of fibers, and to provide a cleaning product and a cleaning brush. SOLUTION: The cleaning brush 22 is used for cleaning or polish. The cleaning brush 22 includes: a base material 22b; and the brush bristles 22a having brush bristles comprising a plurality of fibers F made of a polymer material, erected on the surface of the base material 22b. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a harmful substance removing device which has a small pressure loss and high efficiency of removing a harmful substance, and to provide a cleaning/purifying system for a gas or liquid and a chemical reaction system of a gas or liquid.SOLUTION: The harmful substance removing device 10 comprises: a cylindrical constituent 1; and a functional fiber brush module obtained by raising a functional fiber 2 which has a function of removing the harmful substance, in a brush-like form on the inner wall surface 1a of the cylindrical constituent 1. The harmful substance-containing gas or liquid is made to flow in an inflow opening 10a of the cylindrical constituent 1. The harmful substance is removed by the functional fiber 2 and the harmful substance-removed gas or liquid is discharged from a discharge opening 10b.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a metal oxide catalyst carrier allowing efficient decomposition and removal of VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) generated inside an image forming device or the like during image formation in the device, by means of a metal oxide catalyst by use of ozone or light/heat, and to provide a method for producing the same.SOLUTION: This metal oxide catalyst carrier includes: porus silica; and the metal oxide catalyst at least incorporated in the porus silica, and comprising at least one kind selected from a group consisting of titanium oxide, zirconium oxide, cerium oxide and manganese oxide, and a specific surface area is 400 m/g or above.

The brush fibers 21 each include a polymer fiber 22, a conductive layer 23 that is provided on the surface of the polymer fiber 22, and non-conductive particles fixed to at least a part of the surface of the conductive layer 23 with a polymeric resin therebetween.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a brush in which particles are appropriately heat-fusion bonded to bristles made of synthetic fiber by preventing adjacent bristles from heat-fusion bonding together, and also to provide a method for manufacturing the brush, a cleaning system, a chemical substance treatment system, and an electrophotographic device.SOLUTION: The bristles 12 are composed of polyester or the like and provided with a core-sheath structure having a core part 12a and a sheath part 12b, wherein the melting point of the core part 12a is higher than that of the sheath part 12b. The bristles 12 are heated at a temperature higher than the melting point of the sheath part 12b and lower than that of the core part 12a. As a result, at least to a part of the sheath part 12b, particles 13 whose average maximum diameter is ≤40% of the fiber diameter of the bristles 12 are heat-fusion bonded so as to be at least partly exposed. The bristles 12 in the number at least ≥70% of the total number of bristles 12 are each covered with the heat-fusion bonded particles 13 in the area at least ≥50% of the surface area per piece of bristles 12.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a brush for an image forming apparatus used for a cleaner-less system and satisfying two opposite requirements such as high toner image disturbing property and high toner permeability. SOLUTION: In the brush for the image forming apparatus, the volume resistivity of brush bristles satisfies 1×10 0 Ωcm to 1×10 5 Ωcm, the diameters D(m) of the brush bristles 14 satisfy D≤11×10 -6 , the occupancy ratio P [provided that it is expressed by P=(πD 2 /4)×n and n expresses the density (Mf/m 2 ) of the brush bristles] of the brush bristles 14 satisfies P≤0.15, and the surface area L(m 2 /m) [provided that it is expressed by L=πD×n] per unit length in the longitudinal direction of the brush bristles 14 satisfies L≥5,000.
