    摘要: PURPOSE:To make roll chance free rolling and crown control rolling compatible by flattening the central part of the roll body of work rolls, forming convergent tapers toward the body ends on both sides, and moving the rolls in an axial direction. CONSTITUTION:A pair of upper and lower trapezoidal rolls each having a flat central part of the roll body and convergent parts tapered toward body ends on both sides are used as work rolls 6 in a hot finishing mill. The rolls 6 are axially shifted to a prescribed convergent length value in accordance with a fluctuation in the width of a material 7 to be rolled if said width fluctuates. The rolls 6 are shifted in the stage of rolling at the same width to make the roll wear uniform in a width direction without decreasing crown controllability. Roll chance free rolling and crown control are made compatible by the above- mentioned method.

When the spreading of roll gap is required, the computer spreads it by a required quantity. In this way, the roll breakage is surely prevented and the sheet- thickness accuracy is improved.
