PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a producing method of a shell catalyst suitable for synthesis of alkenyl carboxylate ester and especially a producing method of a vinyl acetate monomer (VAM) from ethylene and allyl acetate from propylene by acetyloxylation.SOLUTION: The present invention relates to a shell catalyst obtained by pre-immersion method with using acetate, as well as the shell catalyst or the use of the shell catalyst for producing alkenyl carboxylate ester, especially an allyl acetate monomer.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly selective catalyst production method used for synthesis of vinyl acetate monomer, in hydrogenation of hydrocarbons, in particular selective hydrogenation of polyunsaturated hydrocarbon compounds, etc. or in oxidation of alcohols to aldehydes, ketones or carboxylic acids.SOLUTION: The shell catalyst includes, in an outer shell, one or more of chloride-free metallic compounds of Pd, Pt, Ag and Au, and in the production method, intermediate calcining is not performed between application of a precursor compound and temperature treatment.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problems of process difficulties in the fluidized bed process for the production of acetic acid from ethane and/or ethylene and an oxygen-containing gas, especially the problem of catalyst abrasion. SOLUTION: There is provided a process for the production of acetic acid, which process comprises contacting ethane and/or ethylene with a molecular oxygen-containing gas in a fluid bed reactor in the presence of a microspheroidal fluidised particulate solid oxidation catalyst, wherein at least 90% of the catalyst particles is less than 300 μm.
