    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a pearlescent composition which retains strong pearlescence, has high degree of whiteness and is excellent in dispersion stability. SOLUTION: The method is for producing the pearlescent composition comprising a fatty acid glycol ester, a surfactant and water and additionally comprising any crystallization additive selected from a group consisting of (1) a fatty acid, (2) an aliphatic alcohol, (3) a fatty acid monoglyceride and (4) an aliphatic ether. The method for producing the pearlescent composition comprises a step of cooling a fused mixed solution comprising a fatty acid glycol ester, a surfactant, water and a crystal additive.
