PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for producing Japanese paper in which pieces of tape, each containing an IC tag that comprises an IC chip and an antenna, are enclosed in specific locations at regular intervals between base paper and cover paper.SOLUTION: An apparatus 100 for producing Japanese paper with IC tags enclosed comprises: a first cylinder 110; a second cylinder 112; a felt 150 that conveys a Japanese paper in this sequence; an IC tape unwinding reel 120; and an IC tag transfer device 10 that is disposed close to the felt 150 between the first cylinder 110 and the second cylinder 112, and unwinds an IC tape 2 from the IC tape unwinding reel 120. By rotating the first cylinder 110, strip-shaped base paper 210 is produced and attached to the felt 150. Then, the IC tag transfer device 10 cuts and transfers the IC tape 2 onto the base paper 210. Finally, by rotating the second cylinder 112, cover paper 220 is produced and layered with the base paper 210 to have the cut IC tape 2 sandwiched between the cover paper 220 and the base paper 210.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a security thread for embedding in or on a sheet such as a document, currency or packaging. SOLUTION: The thread has a thin film interference structure deposited thereon. The structure may be a Fabry-Perot structure in the form of a single filter, or may be plural filters, spaced side-by-side. The thread appears to have separated interference filters deposited thereon. Preferably the thread is first roll coated with oil using an oil-ablation technique to remove deposited material in situ in the coating process.
