    摘要: PURPOSE:To speedily warn an operator of a paper jam by differentiating the time for jam detection depending upon the size of a document to shorten the time for jam detection. CONSTITUTION:The length of time a supplied document passes through a document sensor 6 is counted by detecting the leading and trailing ends of the document to decide the size of the document. After the completion of exposure for the preset number of documents, a whole surface belt 7, discharge rollers 11, 12 and paper discharge rollers 15, 16 are driven to start discharging a document. When the leading end of the document is detected by a document discharge detecting sensor 13, a time of the timer is set depending upon the detected document size. After time-up of the timer, an output of the document discharge detecting sensor 13 is again checked, and if a document is detected, it is judged to be a staying jam. Thus, the jam detection time can be shortened to speedily warn an operator of a jam.
