Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive system for determining and achieving true and accurate alignment. SOLUTION: An alignment system for a table saw is disclosed. The table saw has a rotatable blade that extends through its table top, and the table top has spaced indicator arranged in a direction parallel to the plane of the blade. The alignment system comprises an elongated fence having the first and second end portions, and at least the first end portion has a mechanism for securing the fence on the table saw. An elongated portion is attached to the first end portion and extends over the table top. The fence is normally arranged so that the elongated portion is parallel to the plane of the blade, and is laterally adjustable relative to the blade. At least two light-emitting units are installed on the fence at spaced locations along the length of the fence. Each unit is configured to direct light on one side of the fence toward the indicator and enable an observer to determine whether or not the fence is arranged parallel to the indicator.
