PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal decomposition apparatus capable of preventing deposition of a caulking component in thermally decomposed gas on a surfaces in a space between the outside of an inner vessel and the inside of an outer vessel due to the rotation of the inner vessel. SOLUTION: This thermal decomposition apparatus has an inner vessel 50 and an outer vessel 51, each having a hollow cylindrical shape and concentrically constructed. The inner vessel 50 is rotary driven with its axial center as the rotation center and has a charging section 12s for an object to be treated, formed at one end of a cylindrical shape, and a discharge section 54 for a decomposed gas and a residue, formed at the other end of the cylindrical shape. The outer vessel 51 has a heating jacket 52 for heating the inner vessel to a predetermined temperature, and a reflux column 13 for the decomposed gas exhausted from an exhaust slit and a residue discharging nozzle 12d are connected to the outer vessel 51. A scraping fin 60 is integrally fixed on the outer peripheral surface of the inner vessel 50. The scraping fin 60 is spirally wound on the outer peripheral surface of the inner vessel 50 in the axial direction thereof and is formed with its outside conforming to the inner shape of the outer vessel 51 without interfering with it. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an external heating rotary kiln capable of stably operating for a long time when carrying out a dry distillation process of an object to be heated containing a massive amount of high polymer organic matter. SOLUTION: The external heating rotary kiln is composed of a shell rotating around an axis having a supply port of the object to be heated in one end side and a delivery opening for delivering the object in another end side, a heating furnace heating an outer side part of the shell, an exhaust tube fixed by piercing a circumferential wall of the shell and exhausting gas generated in the shell into the heating furnace, and an peeling body interlocking with rotation of the shell in the exhaust tube to peel deposits adhered to an inner face of the exhaust tube. The exhaust tube has in its both ends stoppers with bleeders holding the peeling body in the exhaust tube. The peeling body can coaxially rotate/move with the exhaust tube housing it, and it is formed by a hollow body having vent holes coaxial with the exhaust tube and ventilating dry distillation gas. SOLUTION: This device is provided in the zinc recovering device, in which the inlet for introducing the zinc-containing gas at the upper part of a vertical empty tower and a nozzle for spouting the water in the inner part are provided and the zinc-containing gas introduced with the spouted water is cooled and zinc is dropped and recovered. Then, the removing device is provided with a deposition removing member whose lower end is brought into contact with the inner wall around the inlet to remove the zinc-containing deposition on the inner wall surface, a supporting shaft which penerates a top plate of the empty tower and vertically supports the center of the deposition removing member, a turning means for turning the deposition removing member around the supporting shaft, and a raising/lowering means for vertically moving the deposition removing member.
