Abstract: The invention relates to a process for inscribing a three-dimensional structure formed from variations in refractive index in the bulk of a transparent oxide glass comprising silver ions by femtosecond-laser-beam irradiation, the method comprising: generating a laser beam made up of a series of ultra-brief light pulses of pulse duration shorter than the characteristic time of thermalization of the glass so as to achieve an excitation at the point of irradiation via multi-photon interaction; focusing said beam at a desired depth in the glass; irradiating point by point the glass with said beam so as to form the structure in the glass along a predetermined path, the number of pulses, the repetition rate of the pulses and the irradiance at each irradiation point being controlled to induce an accumulation of silver aggregates localised in an annular peripheral region around an irradiation point, said accumulation of aggregates generating a variation in refractive index in the annular peripheral region around the irradiation point, and to erase a variation in refractive index in a segment of an annular peripheral region generated around another irradiation point when said segment of the peripheral region coincides with a region of the laser beam.

Abstract: A method for obtaining a fibrous preparation for manufacturing a paper having significant water repellency and opacity in the dry or wet state. Fibres are suspended in water; calcium salts are added to the fibres; a source of carbonate salts in the form of an aqueous solution are added and the resulting mixture is stirred for a time sufficient to allow calcium carbonate particles to be precipitated. A solution of fatty acid salts heated to a temperature which corresponds to the micellisation temperature of said fatty acid salts is added and takes into account the critical micellar concentration of the fatty acid salts. The mixture is stirred thus obtained for a time sufficient to allow the fatty acids to be absorbed at the surface of the calcium carbonate particles and to obtain the desired fibrous preparation.

Abstract: The invention concerns a biocompatible oily ferrofluid comprising iron-oxide based magnetic nanoparticles and an oil phase comprising at least one fatty acid ester, characterized in that said magnetic nanoparticles are surface functionalized by molecules of one or more phospholipids, and in particular a biocompatible oily ferrofluid comprising iron-oxide based magnetic nanoparticles and an oil phase comprising at least one fatty acid ester, said iron-oxide based magnetic nanoparticles forming a colloidal dispersion in said oil phase from a temperature belonging to the range from 20 to 80° C., characterized in that said magnetic nanoparticles are surface functionalized by molecules of one or more phospholipids which do not completely cover the surface of the iron-oxide based magnetic nanoparticles, which in particular ensure a coverage rate of the surface of the iron-oxide based magnetic nanoparticles such that the fatty acid ester(s) present in the oil phase have access to the surface of the iron-oxide based magnetic nanoparticles. The invention also concerns the process for preparing such a biocompatible oily ferrofluid and its use as a contrast agent for magnetic resonance imaging or in the context of a cancer treatment by hyperthermia. Finally, the invention concerns a nanoemulsion comprising such a biocompatible oily ferrofluid.

The equipment including at least one laser source that emits a laser beam, a substrate carrier to which the substrate is fastened, a shockwave-generating layer having a first surface oriented toward the laser beam and a second surface oriented toward the deposition surface of the substrate, an optical system for directing and focusing the laser beam toward a focal region of the first surface. The second surface including a plurality of cavities, each cavity housing at least one particle. The laser beam generates a plasma in the focal region on the first surface and a shockwave that propagates within the generating layer from the first surface to the second surface in order to spray at least one particle in the direction of the deposition surface of the substrate.
