摘要： An animal watering valve preferably includes a valve body, a valve stem, a retention plug, a stem o-ring and a compression spring. A valve bore is formed in the one end of the valve body to receive the valve stem. A plug bore is formed in the opposing end of the valve body. The valve stem preferably includes a sealing base, an actuation end, a plug end and a spring flange. An o-ring groove is formed in the sealing base to receive the stem o-ring. The retention plug preferably includes a threaded portion, a rotation flange and a stem portion. A stem bore is formed through the retention plug. The stem bore is sized to loosely receive the plug end of the valve stem. The plug end is inserted into the compression spring. The retention plug is threaded into the plug bore to retain the valve stem.

摘要： A rain detection apparatus includes a camera that views a surface and a processor that captures an image from the camera. The processor generates a signal indicative of rain on the surface from information contained in the captured image and optionally drives a surface cleaning apparatus in response thereto. The apparatus captures images focused at a plurality of distances. The processor includes an edge detector that detects edges visible in the captured image and a difference structure that calculates the difference between the number of edges visible between differing images. The edge detector disregards edges close to areas of light larger than the largest raindrop that is desired or expected to be detected. The apparatus optionally includes a backlight, and the difference in numbers of edges between frames with and without the backlight illuminated are used to distinguish between background features and rain on the surface.

摘要： A multi-color ink tank is adapted to replace individual different color ink tanks in a cavity of a given support structure. Elements on the body of the multi-color ink tank have configurations enabling compatibility with the support structure. The elements include empty opposite side portions of the body defining laterally spaced apart bottom openings that adapt the opposite side portions to seat in spaced slots in the cavity over keys therein and an intermediate central recessed region defined between the opposite side portions that adapts the body to straddle an intermediate slot between the spaced slots and a key therein and also straddle partitions in the cavity forming the slots. The elements also include tabs blocking some latches used to releasably lock some individual ink tanks to thereby identify the latch to be used to releasably lock the multi-color ink tank.

摘要： The invention relates to a system 100 for verifying the authenticity of medicament entitlement tokens, such as prescriptions 102, used to control the dispensing of medicaments. The system comprises a network 104 connecting at least one token provider terminal 106, a system server 120 and a verification terminal 130. The token provider terminal 106 is operable to provide a signature from a speckle pattern derived from a medicament entitlement token that can be stored by the server system 120. The verification terminal 130 can then be operated remotely to recreate the signature in order to verify the authenticity of the medicament entitlement token by comparing it to stored signatures. The system 100 relies upon the intrinsic physical properties of the medicament entitlement token to generate a unique signature for each token that is produced. This makes the medicament entitlement tokens themselves very difficult to forge. Moreover, the signatures transmitted over the network do not need to contain any details relating to the content of the medicament entitlement tokens, such as patient data, hence signature data stored by the system can be made privacy neutral so that even if it were to be intercepted or copied this would not compromise confidentiality.

摘要： An article identification method can comprise: determining a signature from an article based upon an intrinsic characteristic of the article; and comparing the determined signature to a stored signature. The method can also comprise splitting the determined signature into blocks of contiguous data, performing a comparison operation between each block and respective blocks of the stored signature, and comparing an attribute of a comparison result from each block comparison to an expected attribute of the block comparison to determine a compensation value for use in determining a comparison result. The method can also comprise determining a similarity result between the determined signature and the stored signature, using the compensation value to adjust the determined signature. Thus an article damaged by stretching or shrinking can be successfully identified. Also, a non-linear signature determination can be accommodated without losing identification accuracy.

The multi-compartmentalized ink cartridge includes a molded, open-topped body having an interior cavity and a printhead surface area opposite the interior cavity. A divider wall is integrally molded with the molded body structure and disposed in the interior cavity to provide at least three segregated ink chambers. The divider wall includes a first wall section and a second wall section attached substantially perpendicular to the first wall section. At least first, second, third molded ink flow paths connect each of the at least three segregated ink chambers with the printhead surface area. The second and third ink flow paths are oriented relative to their corresponding ink chambers for molding with a mold insert tool so that the cartridge body does not require a separately attached member to close mold insert tool insertion areas in the body.

摘要： An inkjet printhead having a unitary body with an ink conduit between an ink outlet port of an ink compartment and an ink feed slot compatible with a heater chip has an ink conduit plug laser welded thereto to prevent ink from leaking from the ink conduit as the ink flows from the ink outlet port to the ink feed slot during use. In one embodiment, the ink conduit plug has a lid and an insertion portion. The lid has a laser transparent periphery that becomes illuminated with a laser light to weld an undersurface thereof over an opening of the ink conduit. Techniques for laser welding include an advancing laser beam or a simultaneous welding structure. In another embodiment, the ink conduit plug has two plug sections banded together with either a flexible material or angularly disposed links. The banded plug sections may or may not be laser welded.
