Abstract:
A radial pneumatic tire 10 has a pair of bead cores 26 disposed one in each bead portion 22 of the tire; a carcass 30 having a carcass ply 40 having radially arranged cords extending between and turned up around the bead cores 26 from the axially inside to the outside to form a pair of turnup ends 44, 44′; a rubber tread 12 disposed radially outside the carcass 30; a belt structure 36 having at least a first belt ply 37 and a second belt ply 39 disposed adjacently between the carcass 30 and the tread 12 and wherein each of the turned up ends 44, 44′ of said carcass ply 40 extends radially outward overlying at least a portion of one or both of the at least first and second belt plies 37, 39. The tire 10 is as described above is manufactured by a method of shaping a carcass 30 and applying a belt reinforcing structure 36 to the carcass 30 and then turning up a pair of carcass ply turnup ends 44, 44′ over at least a portion of the belt reinforcing structure 36 along each respective lateral edge of at least one belt layer 37, preferably covering all the lateral edges of two or more belt layers 37,39.
Abstract:
In accordance with principles of the invention, there is provided an arbitration system for multiple requesters of a shared data transfer resource, such as a system bus or a peripheral bus. The disclosed system arbitrates among multiple classes of requesters which are divided into multiple levels of a request hierarchy. In the example embodiment, the multiple requesters include logic for processing received data from the network, logic for processing data to be transmitted onto the network, logic for moving transmit and receive descriptors between the host memory and the adapter, logic for reporting status from the adapter to the host, and logic for generating an error and maintenance status update from the adapter to the host. The new system ensures fairness between transmit and receive processes, that FIFOs associated with transmit queues are not underrun, and further than notification of non-error and maintenance status changes are processed with minimal latency.

Abstract:
A propelling pencil having a tube with an internal double start screw thread, one end of the tube being surrounded by a resiliently flexible sleeve which engages with a portion of an operating member to restrain it against axial movement along the tube while permitting its rotation. An outer casing covers the tube and constricts the sleeve to further restrict the movement of the operating member. The rotation of the operating member moves a threaded element engaging the threaded tube axially along the tube to urge a pencil lead along a guide mounted at the other end of the tube which includes a block of resilient material formed with a puncture through which the lead extends and by which the lead is held.
Abstract:
A construction retention system. The system includes a construction clip having a body portion coupled to an elongated portion and a shortened portion. The body portion includes a carrying rod receiving portion disposed between elongated portion and the shortened portion. The clip includes a first tab coupled to a proximate end of the body portion. The carrying rod receiving portion receives a carrying rod. The first tab receives a tensioning wire. The system further includes a beam clamp removably secured to an I-beam and secures the carrying rod. The construction clip is removably secured to the beam clamp and to the carrying rod. The tensioning wire tension-secures the construction clip to the carrying rod and the beam clamp.
Abstract:
An eyeglass nosepiece is formed on a housing that defines two translational paths for guiding two independently travelling nosepads. The nosepads are free to travel between the top and bottom of each path, opposed only by resilient biasing means which absorb downward shock to the nosepiece and urge the nosepads upward and inward to grip the wearer's nose securely.
Abstract:
A hermaphroditic ball and socket joint permits a ball to rotate freely within a socket within constrained bounds. The socket resides within a housing that has an exterior surface having a rotational axis of symmetry passing through the center of the socket. A channel connects the socket to the exterior surface. The ball extends from a member having a collar which partially enshrouds the ball and which has an inside surface that is substantially identical to the exterior surface of the socket housing and which has an axis of rotational symmetry passing through the center of the ball. The free rotation of the ball in the socket is constrained by the restricted movement of the member through the channel and the restricted rotation of the collar around the exterior surface of the housing.
Abstract:
Reflective notching of a photoresist pattern (20), generated over reflective materials on a semiconductor substrate (12), is minimized by using an anti-reflective layer (20) of silicon-rich silicon nitride. The layer of silicon-rich silicon nitride is formed over the reflective materials and a layer of photoresist is then formed over the silicon-rich silicon nitride. The photoresist layer is then photolithographically patterned to form an integrated circuit pattern (20). The silicon-rich silicon nitride layer has an absorptive index of greater than 0.25, which allows it to be used as an anti-reflective layer with photolithographic patterning systems having ultraviolet and deep ultraviolet exposure wavelengths.
