摘要: A semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA) with efficient current injection is described. Injection current density is controlled to be higher in some areas and lower in others to provide, e.g., improved saturation power and/or noise figure. Controlled injection current can be accomplished by varying the resistivity of the current injection electrode. This, in turn, can be accomplished by patterning openings in the dielectric layer above the current injection metallization in a manner which varies the series resistance along the length of the device.

摘要: A device for monitoring heart rate and blood oxygen levels using improved pulse oximetry sensors. Pulse oximetry sensors function in either transmission mode or reflectance mode. The device of the present invention provides improved sensors functioning in transmission mode to be useful on anatomical structures with dense tissue, such as the wrist. Additionally, a combination of sensors are used to enhance the performance of monitoring devices using pulse oximetry technology. By combining sensors that function in transmission mode and reflectance mode, quality and accuracy of the monitoring device is enhanced. The data from the sensors are communicated with a microcontroller for analyzing the data. More accurate data collection translates to more accurate analysis using formulas or algorithms. The resulting analysis is conveyed to the user through a display, either digitally or in color.

摘要: A method of remotely configuring a network device requires the generation of configuration information for the network device at a central configuration server, which is located remotely from the network device on a network. The configuration information includes a device configuration parameter. On receipt of identification information concerning the network device at the central configuration server, the central configuration server propagates the configuration information to the network device.

摘要: A method of data acquisition at a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) system is provided. The system receives at least a portion of raw data for an image, and detects anomalies in the portion of raw data received. When anomalies are detected, the system can correct those anomalies dynamically, without waiting for a new scan to be ordered. The system can attempt to scan the offending portion of the raw data, either upon detection of the anomaly or at some point during the scan. The system can also correct anomalies using digital correction methods based on expected values. The anomalies can be detected based on variations from thresholds, masks and expected values all of which can be obtained using one of the ongoing scan, previously performed scans and apriori information relating to the type of scan being performed.
