摘要: A novel technique of connecting two or more pumping modules under a laminar flow hood is described. The technique includes the use of a novel manifold which is specifically designed to enhance laminar air flow across the outlet port of the manifold when connected to one of the pumping modules. The manifold includes a cylindrical housing having an axially extending outlet port, and two or more sets of radially extending inlet ports eminate from the cylindrical housing. The inlet ports of each set are closely spaced with respect to one another to minimize the length of the cylindrical housing. A common fluid channel extends substantially through the length of the cylindrical housing to connect each of the inlet ports to the single outlet port.

摘要: An mixing assembly which transfers a number of nutritional fluids from individual source containers into a collection container while noninvasively sensing the type of fluid being transferred is provided. The mixing assembly utilizes a transfer set to establish fluid communication between the source containers and the collection container. A sensing assembly is configured to noninvasively sense a number of the types of fluid flowing through the transfer set to help to prevent improper mixing. For other fluids for which the sensing assembly alone may not be able to distinguish with the desired accuracy, the mixing device utilizes a method to approximate the flow rate of that fluid with the flow rate also providing an indication of that type of fluid. By combining the output of the sensing assembly with the flow rate determination, additional fluids can be identified.

摘要: A device for connecting two or more bulk compounding systems for mixing hyperalimentation solutions is described. The device allows electrical signals from each bulk compounding system to be connected to one another so that each bulk compounding system may act in concert with other bulk compounding systems to fill an individual receiving container with minimal modifications to the internal circuitry of an individual bulk compounding system.

摘要: A method and apparatus of collecting a desired end-point weight amount of material first conveys the material into the collection container until a predetermined weight amount is collected. The predetermined weight amount is less than the desired end-point weight amount by a selected initial weight offset amount. An additional incremental amount of material is next conveyed into the container for a predetermined fixed time period. In doing so, the method and apparatus gauge the particular flow characteristics of the associated flow system. A further additional incremental amount of material is conveyed into the collection container for another time period, the length of which reflects the anticipated flow characteristics of the system, based upon the performance of the system during the preceding period. The method and apparatus repeat this sequence until the then-existing weight amount equals or exceeds the desired end-point weight amount.

摘要: The present invention provides an economical quick and accurate method and apparatus for transferring and monitoring a preselected amount of fluid from a fluid source container to a receiving container. The method and apparatus monitors the flow rate of the fluid to be transferred by measuring the weight change of the receiving container per unit time.A weight sensor monitors the weight of the receiving container at various time intervals. The weight information received by the control module at the various time intervals is compared to each other and to predetermined values for the detection of no flow, low flow or high flow conditions.
